We have just returned from spending the closing week at Ceiba Del Mar. This was our 3rd visit and obviously it is the last. The staff was great and tried to be upbeat but there were many tears and much concern about their futures. While the hotel had committed to us that everything would be fully functional in the final days, this was not the case - there was only one restaurant and one bar open. In addition, people were working on the property to change the resort and its character. One pool was closed, there was construction noise and debris, and dangerous areas around the paths. A sad way for a wonderful place to end.

this was our second time visiting Ceiba and our third time to Puerto Morelos. The hotel has everything going for it (proximity to the town and a lovely design and friendly staff). Unfortunately the times they are a changin' and we hear that the hotel is going to become clothing optional. A sadness pervades the place for many of the staff who have been there for several years. The morning coffee service which came with our room fee (we choose not to go with an all inclusive because the town has so many restaurants and great food at cheap prices) has gone way down. The coffee was awful (it used to be great) and the pastries were either stale, too sweet or both. I recoomend stocking up on some banana bread, fruit and yogurt from the town market and storing them in the mini fridge. The hotel grounds are still beautiful and the staff as accomodating as you could expect. We will probably rent a condo the next time we return to PM. The other "luxury" hotels are further from town and most likely require that you take their all inclusive meal plan.

My wife and I went here for a wedding for an extended weekend. We had an absolute fantastic time. The wait staff their on the grounds we extremely fun and personable, and made everything enjoyable or us.

We took advantage of their dive shop there on the grounds were we went snorkling AND Scuba diving....both were outstanding times.

This is the place to stay when visiting Puerto Morelos

My daughter and I came to this hotel through a sniqueaway.com promotion. A truly wonderful spot. Our master suite was enormous, with balconies opening off both the bedroom and the living room. Even though our room was set into the courtyard set-up about as far back as was possible, our view was still great. The staff was very attentive and always friendly. We purchased the meal plan, even though I think in the end we could have done better paying a la carte, because I don't drink. This is a very quiet hotel and grounds so someone looking for a party-time Cancun hotel would not like it here. However, the serenity is exactly what we loved about the place. One point on the poor side: The hotel advertises, both on its web site and even in its welcome materials that were handed to us when we checked in, "full Pilates and yoga programs" but has nothing of the sort. Just a supposed once-a-day-at-8:00 yoga class, and that was not even offered on most of the days of our trip. No Pilates at all.
