My boyfriend and I stayed at this resort with another couple for during the week of January 21-30. It was absolutely amazing!
We arrived late at night and the staff was very nice and accommodating. Our rooms were on the main floor, which was very convenient because we were located near everything and we didn't have to go up and down stairs to get to our room.
Every morning we would get our towels around 8am and reserve our chairs by the pool. Places are limited, but we never had any problems getting lounge chairs. There was even two days where we went to the pool at 10:30 am and in the afternoon, and we were able to find chairs at those times as well.
We usually had breakfast in the buffet, which had surprisingly good food! There is a lot of selection: omelets, waffles, pancakes, cereal, fruit, toast, croissant, etc.
We would then lounge by the pool in the afternoon. One of the waitresses, Rocio, was absolutely amazing. She was always in a great mood and she knew all of our names and would often chat with us.
Around 3pm the entertainment staff will usually host a game/contest, which is always amusing. We loved the entertainment staff. In particular, we really liked Michelle, Leo, Oscar and Denisse. They were amazing. Every time they would all come to the pool, everybody's face would light up, they all have really positive and amusing personalities.
In the evening, we would have dinner at one of the a la carte restaurants. All three restaurants (plus the creperie) were excellent, but the Japanese restaurant was by far the best.
We always started our nights by playing cards and having drinks in the beautiful lobby. This is where we met Grizelda, a young waitress who works at Mike's cafe during the day and serves in the lobby at night. Grizelda was an absolute ray of sunshine. She was so sweet, she knew all of our names and would teach us Spanish, whenever we asked. She even noticed that we had not gone to the lobby on one of the nights.
We would usually end our nights by going to a beach party/pool party/kareoke, etc... that was organized by the hotel. The entertainment staff was usually there and they knew how to make it amazing each night. There is always something to do at night, but everything seems to shut down around 12:00am. The sports bar is open until 6:00am, and they have an amazing Cesar salad there.
We went to Coco Bongo on one night (organized by the Hotel). Oscar accompanied us there and Denisse met up with us. Those two had worked all day (I had seen them at the pool) and still had the energy and charisma to party with us until 3:30am - they are really nice and fun.
If you want to do any activities, I suggest going to see a man named George on the beach. His booth is located between this resort and the adjacent resort. We signed up for snorkeling and the ATV/zip lining/cenotes tours through him. He gave us a very good deal and was really pleasant to deal with.
The only bad experience we had was when we asked for information from the gentleman at the main entrance who are responsible for calling taxis when needed. We wanted to Cancun and to Playa del Carmen, and heard that it was cheaper to go by public bus. We asked for their input and they immediately tried to talk us out of it by saying it was very difficult to get a bus and it was dangerous, etc. etc. and they strongly pushed for us to take a taxi instead. Raffael was the worst. I think they make commission or get a cut for referring taxis. But the truth is, we took the bus to La Isla shopping in Cancun and to Playa del Carmen, it was very easy to get the bus and I have never felt safer. There is a huge difference in price between taking the bus to these places and taking a cab.
Other than the misguided advise that we received from the taxi people (on numerous occasions), our stay at this resort was amazing. If you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful week, this is where to go. Needless to say, we did not want to leave.
