I LOVE this hotel. It is so peaceful and easygoing. My small children loved the pool, the view, the staff. Avoid like the plague the all-inclusives and experience something authentic. Request the ground floor and you get a beautiful patio that looks right at the caribbean. The small town of P.M is right around the corner. My kids loved walking to the center and buying paletas and playing in the park.

We actually quite liked this hotel--clean, on the beach, relatively inexpensive. More service would enhance the experience but overall, it is good value for the price. Our complaint is in the billing--we accidentally paid twice for the hotel, due to a Paypal mistake. Despite numerous emails and calls, the hotel has not responded. I don;' think it was deliberate on their part but they are not being at all helpful or responsive in solving the double payment. So, be sure to check your charges!

I have previously stayed at the Hacienda Morelos. It was pleasant and inexpensive. A year later I returned to find that the hotel was under new management and now known as Hotel Carmen. The prices were nearly double. After finding that my A/C leaked water all over the floor, and finding a used razor in the shower, I decided I wanted to find another place to stay. I had pre-paid for a 3 night stay, and left after one night. I was assured that I would be refunded for the 2 nights cancelled. I went to the hotel 4 times in the following two weeks inquiring about the refund that never appeared on my credit card account. I am now pursuing this with my credit card company.

Nice Mexican-style hotel. Very clean, great front desk help (Anthony,especially). Bath had shower only, worked fine, bath updated recently. TV in room; no phone. AC worked well. Did NOT drink the tap water. Stayed 4 nites.Hotel transitioned to a new operating company while we were there (Carmen Hotels), so the name may now be Camen Hacienda or Hacienda Carmen...Very close to town square and all restaruants - 1 to 2 block walk to most of them. On the beach - 3rd floor rooms (like ours) have best view. Pool is small, but excellent for our simple needs. Nice chairs/loungers by the pool. Towels available at front desk. Good selection of restaurants in the town - all types of cuisine. Avg. $15-20 pp for dinner. Beach not "pristine" but grass issue has been cleaned up. Shallow water at beach font & not big waves while we were there. Very quiet town. Good area for eating, sitting by the pool, water activities & fishing, reading, etc. No night life to speak of, but we weren't looking for that anyway. Recommend for mature folks, maybe families. Definitely not for singles looking for "action."
