This hotel ticked all the boxes, the rooms were reasonably spacious, very clean and with modern bathrooms containing both bath and shower. The hotel staff were polite, friendly and accommodating and the location for the lifts was very convenient - about two mins walk away, mostly on the flat but a couple of flights of stairs just in front of the lift itself.

The breakfast and evening meal were buffet style, which I am usually not very fond of, but the variety and the quality of the food was excellent and there was a chef available to cook things like fish and meat in front of you.

The facilities in the hotel were good - we went with quite a number of teenagers and there was both a games room and free internet available. My friend and I had a couple of massages, which were quite costly but really fabulous.

i would recommend parking your car in the municipal car park about 100 metres from the hotel as the hotel car park costs 15 euros per night.

The mountain restaurants in the Grandvalira ski area are totally naff - cantines serving poor quality, expensive fast food. We had a couple of delicious mid-day meals at a restaurant called la Borda, located at the bottom of the slopes in Pas de la Casa - the food and service were excellent and the cost was approximately the same as the rubbish in the mountain cantines.

Grandvalira do a 5 out of 7 day lift pass which is great if you want to miss a day through bad weather or if you want a change of resort (eg go to Arinsal). I wish more European ski resorts would offer these flexible lift passes.

All in all I would highly recommend both this hotel and the resort of Canillo as a base for Grandvalira skiing

We went to Andorra for the last skying before closing the season. We kind of knew that Hotel Canillo was suppossed to be good, but it was really over our expectations. Breakfast and dinner are so varied and so good quality. Service is very nice as well. The installations are pretty new, rooms are amusing and the spa area is very nice... sometimes a bit busy, but you just have to find the right time to go after skying. If I would have to critize something, I would say that the front door of the rooms are not blocking the sounds perfectly, and sometimes you can hear people walking or talking in the corridors... therefore, please ask for the highest level possible.
If we would go back to Andorra again, that we will, I will not definitely look for another hotel and I will go for Hotel Canillo, amusing!

We went to Andorra and stayed in the hotel (16-02-2010) Font d´Argent Canillo, the hotel was great! We arrive there, the people in the lobby were really nice, and we had our room pretty fast. The room was very clean and it was really good.

In front of the hotel you can find a Gas station, and it also has a store for whatever you need.

Breakfast was included in the package as well as the Forfaits, so it was great. The food (breakfast) was really good it has everything.

The hotel has great location for skying, you just cross the street and there is the lift that take you to the skying, also in front of the lifts there is a skying store, owned by (I think to french people) they were really nice, and it has really good price and everything you rent is new!

Also if you go out the hotel to your right and then turn right again in the first street, you will find a restaurant bar, where they have amazing food and also a good place to hang out and drink a beer. There is also another place called Dylans but you will have to take a cab, that you can ask the people in the reception for one.

We really had a a great stay in the hotel, and if we go to Andorra again, we wont look for anything else, will just go to Font d´Argent Canillo.

I would usually reserve my "excellent" ratings for a splurge hotel that met my expectations, but the Hotel Font D'Argent was one of the best deal we could find in Canillo and it turned out to be an incredible hotel too. We stayed for 3 nights and skied at Grand Valira. One of the big perks is that you can literally walk across the street to the gondolla from the hotel.

We were snowed in the first day and all the lifts were closed, so we explored Canillo and found some great places to hang out. There's a crepe restaurant a couple blocks away from the hotel with excellent and cheap food, sports on the t.v., and a full bar. Across the street from there is traditional lodge hotel with a lovely lounge area and cool old ski decor. There's also a big sports center nearby with ice skating, a restaurant, and a pool.

When we went back to the Hotel Font D'Argent, we tried out the free spa facilities. The Turkish bath was my favorite. It smelled like Eucalyptus. The sauna was nice too, with cedar benches. The jacquzzis were not hot though. That was disappointing.

Our room was well beyond what I expected for the price. We booked regular accommodations. No fancy suite or anything. We paid a package total of 450 euros for 3 nights of lodging, 2 days of skiing (for 2 people), and 3 days of breakfast for 2. The bed was nice, but I still can't come to terms with the way hotels in Europe push together two double beds instead of having one king or one queen. The bathroom was incredible, with everything I needed, including a drying rack for my ski clothes. The ceiling in the room was my favorite part. It was made of hardwood maple planks. It felt very cozy.

All in all, a great stay. Nice and quiet, comfortable, even luxurious at times. I highly reccommend this hotel.
