“Steady Average Hotel”

Late check in. Found check in staff to have good knowledge of english and answered all my questions. Breakfast was at 7AM but I had an early check out. Went to the restaurant with my breakfast chit before going up to the room and was provided a meal bag in place of breakfast. Contained cheese, ham, bun, cookies, chocolate cookies, chocolate bar, juice and milk, oh yes, and an apple. Restaurant staff was helpful. Paid for the luxury room (with air conditioning), found it clean and the bed comfy. Extremely well stocked bathroom, all the items a traveler would need.
Older hotel but well maintained for its age!
Close walking distance to the airport and perfect for someone just needing a place to rest between flights.

“Worn, but clean and correct”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

We had little choice but to stay the night here when we arrived late at night at Boryspil. The Hotel is just a few hundred meters walking distance from the airport so you cannot miss it. Reception staff was stiff but very correct. I never expect or demand smiles or friendly greetings from strangers simply because they work in service professions, in fact I think people who demand such behaviour are sociopaths (or too americanized). You pay for a service. Period. Other than that it was clean, but pretty worn and tatty everywhere. Absolutely no frills, and a freeway and a parking as the only view from the window. Beds were pretty hard, but sheets were starchy and white as snow. Breakfast was ample but uninspired. Would not even consider this hotel at any other location than as an airport hotel though.

“Functional - no frills.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

Stayed here while waiting for a connecting flight. Didn't manage to book the room before we left the UK despite 3 attempts as the people we spoke to clearly didn't understand English, although other travellers in our party were more successful. Despite this there was no difficulty in getting a room at midnight.

Front desk
Cold to unfriendly. One hatch you book the room, but are unable to pay as this is the domain of the adjacent hatch. I enquired about the advertised 'hourly room rates' as we were only wanting to stay 4 hours. This produced a scowl and a demand to sign for the full cost of the room - £90GBP. Although I wouldn't consider it, hiring a prostitute and staying in the room for 4 hours would probably have been a more cost effective way of staying there!!

Restaurant
Friendly staff (given we were the only ones wanting to eat at midnight) but despite being offered the menu were only able to obtain limited selection of food. Omelette was too difficult to make but full on steak meal was perfectly fine. The vouchers for breakfast enabled us to get a bag of goodies for the next day. Odd selection of food: Baguette, apple, large ready meal (requiring hot water to reconstitute - but not sure where we were supposed to get this) 2 packets of salami, 1 packet of edam cheese slices, an entire packet of biscuits and a small packet of biscuits, an apple drink and a whole bar of chocolate.

Room
Functional. Warm, clean, very small but working shower. Did the job.

General advice
Current exchange rates are about 10 Ukraine currency to 1GBP so if you get some out of the cashpoint in the airport, don't be tempted to take out 10 Ukraine - the bank charge will be more than your withdrawal!

Getting to the hotel is simple. DON'T use a taxi. They wanted to charge £15GBP to travel 400 yards. Head out of the terminal and go straight up the road in front of you. Stay on the right hand side of the road. After 300-400 yards you get to the hotel. Nopt more than a 5 minute walk

“An ok hotel.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2010

Pluses: You can eaily walk there (500m from airport terminal).
Clean, quiet, comfortable.
Staff friendly and helpful (they did some telephoning in Ukrainian for me).
Restaurant, reasonable (cheap even) prices.

Negatives: As a previous reviewer said, if you just turn up they will tell you they have no single rooms, only double (even though the hotel was clearly nearly empty). so if you want a single room, book in advance.

If you need to stay overnight near Kiev airport, this is the only game in town, the alternative is a one hour $2 bus trip into Kiev.

“Only if you need to stay overnight at the airport”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2010

The Borispil hotel is a poor excuse for a hotel, and should only be used when staying overnight in the Kiev airport region. There is absolutely nothing to do around the hotel, the service is poor. The restaurant offers bad food at high prices, with unfriendly personnel. There is no wifi. The rooms ( I stayed in a luxe room ) were large, clean, and overall ok. It was quiet at night. The hotel is relying on one night/one time stay customers. Much to improve!
