Stayed one night oct 25 2011 as a result of stopping by for a wine tasting. Once in the wine tasting room, asked if available for the night and we decided to stay. Certaily our low season last minute price of 110 Euro including breakfast was a discount but I would pay double that if I were to stay there again! The property is beautiful featuring newly constructed villas perfectly placed up and down the hillside for perfect views. Although it appears to be new contruction every last detail was made to resemble the original villa on the property. The wine tasting room was a comfortabel lounge and shop, the dining room was upstairs and had a lovely outdoor patio. The food was gourmet italian at it's best. Dinner was one of our favorite experinecesin italy. Breakfast was pleantiful and elegant. the rooms were large by local standards and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The grounds were perfectly manicured. there was a beautiful pool and large patio overlooking the vinyards. this is a true 4 star hotel in the Chianti Region.

Considering the purported four star rating we were frankly somewhat disappointed. From the outside the facilities make quite a good impression everything is very well maintained and welcoming, however the rooms not so much: We stayed in two double rooms, one of which was very small and very dark (bringing a spotlight comes in handy …), the other somewhat lighter and a little more widely spaced. The rooms' equipment (TV, phones, air conditioning, fridge, bathrooms) were dated and and overall not fitting the quite clearly self-proclaimed star rating. WiFi was free of charge, however neither available in rooms, nor the breakfast area.

As other reviewers have previously noted, they do advertise their wine tastings quite keenly, giving us the impression that the whole hotel business exists mainly to promote their wine sales.

On the positive, both of the rooms were clean, all appliances worked well and the views from the property were exceptional. Also the choice of international TV programming was fair and the swimming pool nice.

Summing up, we will probably not be returning to Il Borgo de Vescine, and at best recommend it to friends who are looking for a basic place to stay overnight that offers quite striking views but not a lot more.

I stayed only one night during a business trip to Florence and Siena, but I appreciated a lot the beauty of this nice Relais in the middle of Chianti countryside. Great atmosphere, nice views and the free wine tasting was a real surprise. I had dinner at their restaurant and food was quite good, but by my point of view a little expensive. Room was clean and quite and breakfast on the sunny terrace was a good way to start a new business day. My advice book through their website to catch their special offer.

We stopped by for a wine tasting on the way back from Radda. While the grounds were very attractive and well maintained, the service was snooty and lacking. The tasting was charged at 5 Euros per person, for 4 tastings, the absolute tiniest pours we have ever had. Whilst we understand the need for a tasting fee (which is usually refunded on a purchase), this charge was only waived if you bought over 50 Euros, and not for our bottle of prosecco. In addition, the girl serving left people midway to have lengthy chats with other staff and seemed entirely uninterested with unimpressive or minimal product knowledge.
