The staff are first class and so friendly and accommodating but be aware that it is customary to tip just about every member of staff you come into contact with, either during the stay or at the end of the stay. This works out very expensive, we dished out $85usd and it only ended there because we were aggreived to give anymore even though some staff deserved it. The tipping system on the island is unfair to all staff with any tip basically going to who you give it to and not necessarily who and all staff you meant it for.
The food is excellent, the choices, quantity, standard I couldn't fault at all except that they can't cook meat and it is always over done but better that than food poisioning.
The rooms are very basic but you don't need anymore and they are clean and attended everyday with fresh towels and turn down service.
Beware that drinks are very expensive on Bathala, including tea, coffee and water. If you go all inclusive this only includes certain drinks and then ONLY at the meal table at meal times and not between meals. There are no inbetween meal snacks or tea and coffee unless you buy them!
The island is dominated by Italians but as their is no entertainment on the island for them they didn't cause too much noise and annoyance.
I would definetly go back to the island but be aware that they always over book and you could be in a transit "boat" or staff bungalow until your room is vacated, possibly a day or 2. Not what you've paid for.
