“Great hotel.”

This was our third visit to the RIU Seabank. The building work was not too bad although a bit noisy at times. We had the same problem with the aircon not working again, this seems to be the norm so hopefully they will sort this out when the hotel reopens. The childrens club was very good and the Belinda was great. The childrens entertainment at night was only on selected nights but when it was on my daughter had a great time, i would like to thank Belinda who was great with the children. Food at the hotel was great. Cant wait to go back when the hotel reopens.

“Amazing holiday,amazing wedding - perfect”

We stayed in Riu Seabank before and returned for 2 weeks in September (2011) for our wedding and I can't see how people are complaining about the building work, it was hardly noticeable.

The hotel was fab, not dated in the slightest, rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained, pools are lovely, the whole grounds are great.

We had a perfect wedding day there, the gazebo was picture perfect. It was the staff at Riu that made it special (not the outside wedding co-ordinator that we had organised), nothing was a problem and the pool terrace were we had our meal was set up beautifully. Alfred, Roderick and everyone else who helped make our wedding and honeymoon so special - thank you!!

We have stayed in Riu before and would love to return for a 3rd stay when the refurbishments are complete.

A lovely hotel, in a lovely location with great staff - perfect.

“Very average hotel”

We stayed in this hotel in October, and it was undergoing building works.

You couldn't spend any time out by the pool unless you are (a) deaf or (b) willing to turn your iPod up and ignore it that way.

The hotel is very near to a beach, so you do have that option, but really if you're wanting to visit Malta and do day trips, Mellieha itself is just a bit too far out, and the buses are very crowded.

The food was ok, and the staff were always helpful and polite. There is a deal with some local restaurants who give you money off if you stay in the Riu, but we went to one right next door (poor pizza type place) and the waiter went off shift and the very rude lady wouldn't take the money off, as there was "nothing she could do" as that happened, even though we had to go and find her to pay the bill in the first place, her advice was to "talk all we want to the hotel" with a stupid smerk.

I'm sure there are plenty of other places in Malta, I would never go back.

“Stayed for a week at the end of October 2011”

Staff unfailingly respectful & helpful. Food at the breakfast buffet was excellent. Lovely sea view from front facing rooms. HOWEVER, the noise of the building works (starting at 6.30am) was quite something! In fairness, though, they did reduce our bill significantly when we complained about it. This hotel is NOT close to the village nightlife & shops, but the bus service is good. At breakfast, the tables were only 3 or 4 inches apart, so the people next to you heard every word you said. I found this most intrusive. My advice is, if you are not happy with any aspect, SPEAK TO THE MANAGER, because THE PROBLEM WILL BE SORTED. I am keen to see the newly refurbished Riu Seabank Hotel in Summer 2012.

Room Tip: If you go for a seaview room, at the time of booking explain that you want a TOTAL seavi...

“Disappointed”

This is my fourth time in the Seabank and prior to this trip I would have highly recommended this hotel. However, this time (22nd to 29th Oct) due to the commencement of the construction work it was not a good experience. The drilling started at 6am and didn't stop until 7pm every night. This meant you couldn't relax at the pool or on your balcony. At night you had to sleep with patio doors closed due to the early morning noise. Towards the end of the week the builders were inside the hotel also, using the lifts, moving furniture/doors etc. There was dust everywhere.

The commencement of the building work should have been co-ordinated so as not to interefer with guests - or they should have shut the hotel a week earlier.

Any previous good experiences I had in this hotel were cancelled out by this week's fiasco.
