“fantastic view”

we have just returned after spending 3 week offer at a good price. The views are unbeatable with plenty of activity on the water to watch. the hotels dining room and lounge was so cold you couldnt go without something really warm to wear [ some even wore coats ] The food also was often cold and we did along with others notify the rep but it didnt make any difference. Our rooms were warm and clean and staff were lovely. This has been a super hotel in its day but it gives out the impression it is being run on a shoestring. One thing i must say about our holiday is the Maltese people are the best you will find anywhere so friendly and helpful. Would i go back to this hotel no but i would go back to Malta and although they have lost the old buses it is so easy and cheap to get about fantasic places to see just need the weather.

Room Tip: ask for refurbished one

“Fantastic as always”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I returned to the hotel for the second time in 3 months. This time being on my own.

As always I had a fantastic time and felt like home from home. The staff as always were fantastic and made me feel very welcome.

The food in the hotel is a choice of hot and cold buffet style food, but there is always an option of snacks from the bar if you so choose and baguettes in the evening if you get peckish.

The entertainment was good fun and even though being in my late 30's I enjoyed every little bit.

The accomodation was of a good standard and being on my own was put on a high floor (only 4 floors in hotel) which made me feel very secure and safe.

I am now looking for my deal to come back in april(ish) time this year.

I have to admit that have stayed in other hotels, but prefer coming back to this hotel and will not be staying anywhere else in the future.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are good for the view, but garden rooms are lovley to sit on the patio

“A Hotel for the Easily Pleased”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

If you've never experienced any form of luxury in your life and are happy to pay 4 star prices for 2 star accommodation, then this is the hotel for you.
The negatives are too endless to list but include uncomfortable beds and dirt and disrepair throughout. Positives: Beautiful view; efficient staff, some of whom were very friendly and welcoming; the food is this hotel's best feature - lots of seafood (seabass, mussels and squid, which we and our young children love), plenty of very fresh salads, fruits, olives and a good choice of hot, main dishes; full cooked breakfasts, gorgeous yoghurts and pastries. Some things got a little dried up and over cooked but forgivable considering the kitchen caters for 250 guests.
Venture to the filthy beach and the derelict east end of the hotel at your peril but if you do, take a hard-hat!

Room Tip: Families: make sure you get connecting rooms, do not try and cram your family into one of their mini...

“Nursing home by the sea!,”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Our first impressions when we arrived were nice location but full of elderly people it reminded
Me of a nursing home...
The hotel is really shabby in parts and the rooms are very basic. Charlie the barmen is a great guy and made us feel very welcome.
The food here is terrible, Luke warm and displayed and looked like school dinners.
The entertainment was also dire and aimed at the elderly.
the only good thing I can say about this hotel the all inclusive menu included Stella on draught
And schweppes mixers. The views from our room was excellent although the bathrooms were dated. This hotel s 2 star at best!!
Time to bulldoze this hotel and build a 5 star hotel and spa worth going to.

Room Tip: If you are not over 50 then don't bother!!

“Good Staff, Good Food, Pleasant Stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We booked through Thomson an AI package. The hotel is an older building with a lot of steps so may not be suitable for everyone, but the gardens are really nice and it is located next to one of the few sandy beaches in Malta. It is out the way, but we always have a car and the parking is free at the hotel. The lobby is a nice comfortable area with a bar to collect drinks and snacks, sandwiches, baguettes, crisps and some cake are part of the AI package as well as juices, soft drinks and certain alcohol drinks. There was someone playing piano a few times which was nice.

Rooms-These were modern and tasteful and I think they have made the best use of the space possible. Twin beds with a firm, but fairly comfortable mattress, I did not like the pillows though, what I did find I bit odd was that there was a top sheet on one of the beds, but not the other, I asked the chambermaid for a top sheet for the other bed, which was no problem. There is a chest of draws next to both beds and a dressing table area opposite with a hair dryer and mirror. There is also a small fridge. The room had a flat screen TV on the wall with some English channels (news/film). There is a safe which is free to use, ours did not work and on informing reception they sent someone down straight away with some new batteries which sorted the problem out. The views from the rooms are really nice. The bathroom was ok, there is some soap and combined shampoo/body wash to use, but the toilet roll holder and mastic around the bath could do with replacing.

Restaurant-This could do with a make over as it is a bit tired. But I have to say that we really enjoyed the food here and for me there was plenty of choice and it was cooked well. For the evening meal there was always salad items, a soup, a pasta dish, a carvary meat (really nice), a fish dish, a vegetarian dish, at least one other dish option, veg/potatoes, cheese & crackers, 3 or 4 deserts and always ice cream as well. We did not eat in the restaurant every lunch time as we went out quite a few days, but on the days we did we found this to be more than adequate for a lunch time meal and also very nice. For breakfast there was a good selection of cereal, fruit, yogurt, breads, jams, juices, cheese, ham, eggs (3 ways), bacon, sausages, beans, tomatoes.

Limelight lounge and bar – This was a nice modern room for a drink in the evening, but we found that most of the entertainment was to old fashioned for us (ball room dancing most nights), we are in our 40s and were travelling with someone in there mid 60’s and we like a more mixed range of music, old and current chart music as well. Still we enjoyed the guy on the last evening.

Pools – There is an indoor heated pool to use in winter which is nice and also an outdoor pool although it was to cold to use while were there (more in the summer). The hotel charges if you wish pool towels, but I am not sure how much?

It would be nice if the hotel had another area where adults could sit or children could run around that had a more up beat atmosphere and maybe some music videos playing on a TV screen.

On a final note all the staff members here are great!
