“Excellent value for money- basic and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

We booked an inland studio in July of this year. We were delighted when we arrived to discover we had a 2 bedroom apartment with a seaview!!

Closest supermarket was 2 doors from our apartment and stocked everything we needed- good value for food and alcohol. We didn't need air con switched on until the 4th day( small extra charge) but as the temperature was getting hotter daily the 2 fans provided werent enough by that stage. We slept in smaller double bedroom as it was easier to keep cool at night.
We used large twin room for storing clothes+getting dressed as there were only 2 of us. Balcony with seaview was great to relax in the afternoon. The apartment was basic with fridge, microwave and cooker rings. It was all we needed.
We utiliised both the roof pool and the bar level pool. Within walking distance to beach.
Worth a visit. Staff very friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for seaview and double bed if required as available in some apartments

“A GOOD BASE CAMP”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

very helpful and friendly staff, great room with fridge and cooker and kettle handy for lunch time.Food was good with theme nights however we found it strange that the cooked breakfast boufet never had bacon, seemingly it can be had but costs extra, the 2 pools are good one appears to be in shad and the other in sunshine, handy if it gets too hot I suppose.
An ideal location for going to Gozo by bus,€2.60 for an all day bus ticket,€.60 for a return ferry ticket, strangely you pay for it when LEAVING Gozo, not going.Visited Valleta went the inland route by bus and returned the coastal route.
a word of warning to the infirm,.the hotel is at the bottom of a hill and Meliiieha village proper is at the top of the hill, although the bus stop is beside the hotel and there are adequate buses to the village and ther are bars etc. nearby the hotel and SO IS THE LOVELY BEACH !
THE Malta bus ticket is UNFORTUNATELY not valid on the Gozo buses the price is the same though for a day ticket.

“Nice but Dim”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

A nice hotel in a very good location, 10 minutes walk down the road to the beach and a bus stop outside. Get the all day bus ticket, even if it's just to go up the hill to the village. It's much cheaper than buying the odd ticket.
Only complaint was the room we were given. The booking was for the cheaper inland view, which would have been nice with a view to the church at the top of the hill, but for some reason we were given a sea view. People might think we got lucky but the room was wedged between two blocks so the outside balcony was about 4 foot across, which directly linked on to the neighbour's balcony. The sea view was through a small opening between the two blocks of apartments. The result was that there was no light coming into the room, and with no windows at all, made the room dim, to say the least. The toilet wasn't worth mentioning as there was no room to sit, being next to the sink.Still, I suppose you could be sick in the sink without getting off the toilet, so look on the bright side. In addition the toilet was a strange design which meant that any waste would sit on the porcelin making everyone aware of its presence. You couldnt get rid of the pong either as the window opened into a shaft which carried all the pipework for the building. I never used it after the first day and instead used the one in reception. Much nicer, but you had to be quick as the light would go off after 5 minutes and then you were fumbling around to find the door. If you opened the door and moved about the light would come back on for another joyful 5 minutes of navel gazing.
I'd stay at that hotel again but wouldn't in case I got that room again. The other rooms looked ok by the way. We were just unlucky and would have complained but there are comments about brits always complaining. Who moi?

Room Tip: Don't ask for room 3112 unless you're a hermit or a bat.

“Needs refurbishment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We had a one bedroom apartment which was very tired looking. Kitchen and bathroom are in need of serious refurbishment. Hot tap in the bathroom was practically impossible to turn off completely and the toilet flush kept breaking. Maid service was every 4 days and the sheets and towels were threadbare. Very basic and to call it a 3 star is a bit of a cheek. Needless to say we won't be back.

“What do you want for your money? The Ritz!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

This Hotel is what you would expect given the cost, yes, there are a few problems, nothing major, but niggling little odds & sods, eg; we upgraded to a "Superior Suite" as we wanted to be able to watch the tv that came in these suites, what they failed to mention is that YES, you do have a tv, but it has 2 channels!! World News and some sports channel! As I say, little things, the place really needs a damn good clean, I had to buy some fabreze to give a spring clean to the curtains and bedding, and then I hung the bedding out over the balcony!
I felt we would have been more self sufficient in our self catering suite had we had a microwave, the oven was very poor and we only had 2 rings on the cooker, and all of the crockery and cutlery was very poor, however, I have to say the we booked direct so therefore our cleaning and linen changes were every other day, that was fantastic! If you book through an agent or have a package, it's likely you will only get 1/2 per week, just think about that, flights to Malta are cheap, do it yourself, better value, more freedom and choice, as for the staff, they are all lovely, I am not going to highlight any one person, but there is a nice feel about the place, so, there you have it, go there, make your own mind up, BUT PLEASE, REMEMBER THIS IS NOT THE RITZ, DON'T EXPECT IT!!
