When we left Tenerife last year there was a stand at the airport offering a draw for a free weeks holiday. I filled in the slip and then forgot all about it.
We had a call from Silverpoint saying we had won a weeks holiday at one of their apartments and we could take it whenever. We were told that the only commitment was that we would have to spend a half day having a presentation from their sales team, without any commitment. We thought we could handle that ok but explained that the apartment would have to be on the level without any big hills or a lot of steps as I have a "wonky" knee. I was led to believe that we could have a studio apartment at the Palm Beach Club that is on the sea front and has easy access to the promenade, so we agreed.
We were contacted a week beforehand to say that, sorry the Palm beach Club was full. As we had already bought our flights it was a choice of take another location or lose it. Looking at the other locations on Trip Advisor we said that we could try the Beverly Hills Heights even though there was hills involved. We were then called back to say that "as we had been messed about we would be upgraded to a one bedroom apartment". We left for Tenerife feeling a lot happier.
On arrival, late in the evening we were met with a notice being held up saying our name and Hollywood Mirage. Of course this was confusing and we asked the driver but the driver did not have much English so knowing that this was another of the same firms apartment we went with him.
We went higher and higher up the hills from the sea front and came to a really lovely complex. On going to the reception we found that no one bedroom apartment had been reserved for us just a studio. We were not happy but we were told to contact out rep in the morning. I did not unpack.
In the morning were were contacted by one of the sales team who did sort us out with a one bed apartment as promised but this wasted a whole morning before we could relax.
Our appointment for the half day presentation was the next day and it was a very intense sales pitch. We were kept from 1.30pm until 6.45pm and still there was no let-up. Fortunately we were given a day to relax before having to see the sales team again when we said thank you but No Thank-you.
They again wanted to see us on our last full day but we declined saying we had fulfilled our obligation.
The Hollywood Mirage is a super complex and for anyone fully fit I would say it is OK for them. When you come out of the complex you have to go halfway down towards the sea front before you get to the restaurant area and getting back is what is know as Cardiac Hill. I did however manage to make to best of things and had a nice bit of sunshine even if we came back to sub zero conditions.
