Just come back from a week at the Hollywood Mirage. The resort is around 25 years old but appears to have been fully refurbished in the last few years, so everything looks clean and well presented. Our room was a studio appartment with twin beds which were a little hard but ok. Lounge area had a double sofa bed. Kitchen was small but well equipped with fridge, hot plate, microwave oven and all the usual utensils.
Large wardrobe and plenty of storage. Bathroom was very good with bath and good shower, but only just enough hot water for 2 quick showers. A few comp tioletries also left in bathroom. Toilet did not flush properly and they took 3 days to fix it (hence only 3 star instead of 4). Room also had air conditioning. There was a safe in the room which they charge an extra 12 euro per week to use.
Room was not cleaned every day, but that wasn't a problem.
Balcony was large with seats and table.
Resort has several large swimming pools with plenty of sun beds and nightly entertainment such as Abba, Queen tribute bands plus some local musicians. There is also a gym, spa and small bowling alley, hair dresser onsite. Resort quite quiet with average age being over 50. There is also a well stocked supermarket on site.
NO FREE WIFI !!!! These days internet access should really be free. It cost 6 euro per day or 25 euro per week. Plenty of free wifi in the local bars so not a problem.
We stayed in the Judy Garland block (5000 numbered rooms) and there was a persistant noise in the room of a plant room on the lower floor. This really was annoying. you could hear it all night. A pump would start up and stop about 5 or 6 times per minute, all day, all night. Take ear plugs or make sure you not in this block!
As others state this resort is at the top of a long hill. There is a courtessy bus which runs about every 45 min down to the town from 10am to about 7pm. if you have a hire car there is no parking on site, you have to park in the street which was fairly easy.
TIME SHARE PROMO
We stayed here as a free timeshare promo. We had read some horror stories about Silverpoint and their sales techniques. We spent just over 3 hours with their sales rep who was very good, sold the resort very well, but we weren't interested in buying and kept saying no. She respected this and I think quickly realised there was no sale to be had and she thanked us for our time and it was over. I don't consider timeshare ownership to be a bad thing, but you MUST consider this kind of purchase very carefully and the very long term payments you have to make, balanced with what you can get out of it now and in the future
Room Tip: Don't stay in rooms in the 5000 numbers.
