“Great value, clean, great location”

We are actually on holiday as I write this.we have an apartment on first floor that overlooks the busy roundabout. I had seen many comments about barranco mainly to do with the spiral staircase. Yes they are difficult, but after a couple of days, they are fine. This is of course for reasonably capable people, those with walking ailments or disabilities may find it difficult.
The rooms are basic, but very clean. The maids have been in four times in one week. The only problem we had was one very flat pillow, but requested additional pillows at reception and that was sorted.
Our room had a flat screen tv but no remote control.
On suite bathroom, very clean, shower very good but you have to run the water for what seems ages to get hot water, but when it comes, it is very hot.
Kitchen very basic, we bring our own travel kettle which was a godsend.
Things to do, see or where to eat. Lots of excursions and pick ups are very close to apartments. Walking distance to las Americas, peurto colon and playas fanabe and Los Christianos in the other direction. Buses are very frequent and just across the way outside hotel Columbus. Two euros to get to golf del sur.
For the younger ones, good beaches, great surfing. The surf is up at the moment due to volcanic eruptions at el heirro. Veronica's bars and night clubs ten minutes away, but be warned that they lock the gates at barannco and you have to prove you stay here if coming in after two in the morning.
Lots of great food outlets, tango gives ten percent discount if staying here, the Chinese Next door is great with take away, regular meals or buffet for seven euros.
Our best meal was at montana restaurant and best value was three courses at Aberdeen Angus for eight euros, both places the food was great.
For those who want wifi access, then the a many bars with free wifi, just ask for the code while having a drink or food. Hotel Columbus has Munro Restricted wifi which is flakey at best, but you can sign up free and use it free but at a reduced access speed.
The anchor bar below and at the end of the apartments have free wifi so if you get one of the rooms at that end of the complex, you could get wifi from your room. We are at the other end so have to frequent the bar. Abdul on the bar makes you feel very welcome and looks after your needs, more that can be said for the waiting staff in the evening.
Overall we have had a great holiday and would return to barranco with no hesitation.
James and Annette

Room Tip: Room 132 has small balcony but gets sun all day, overlooks bust roundabout So always entertaining

“Great accommodation - BUT!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

Value for money and certainly clean. We spotted ants but then again we do at home, so no big deal. We saw one cockroach but then again we get beatles back in the UK...In warm countries a bug or two is expected..
Staff friendly . We got some noise but was over before we go to sleep anyway.

The apartments are good and kept SAFE for families with children - So these apartments are close to the action without any risk.

Once again accommodation great but Tenerife not a patch on Lanzarote, in fact I would never go back .
Good if you are on a boozing holiday - Not that much for families with the exception of the excellent Jungle Park and the Jousting show.

Room Tip: In Tenerife read reviews to be sure your hotel is secure and not near to noise...Cheapest is not alw...

“Loved it”

Just returned from a 2 week stay, allocated second floor apartment, this turned out to be on the roof. not a problem there is a lift and apartment was one level. There was sunbeds up there and we managed to position 2 beds right outside the apartment- great loads of space up there.
No problems with staff helpful.
Apartments are basically equipped but hey its not a 5 star hotel and as a base it is handily placed with the patch and veronicas just a few minutes walk and we would return here, no problem.

Room Tip: ask for a roof top apartment

“Nice basic bungalow”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

We stayed in Barranco in January and enjoyed our stay. The bungalow isn't very big which was a bit dissapointing because the pictures don't really show that but for sleeping and a place to store your clothing and other belongings it's fine. The rooms are tidy but there is no cleaning in the weekends which didn't work out for us as we had some problems with the shower being a bit strong and the shower curtain a bit weak. A nice place for a short stay but not great and we did hear some people who had an appartment at the front that the noice from the pub below can be very loud but they got changed very easily so the staff is quite helpfull and it's nice they check who comes into the complex at night.

“Great value and secure”

Great clean complex. Not too big. Basic but clean, nice pool. Not for the teenagers as there is a strict no entry policy without confirmation that you are staying there after 2am.
Pool small but good and deep. Quite quite poolside, depending on who is staying obviously, but no boom boxes etc allowed, so you can chill.
Please try chinese buffet (turn left on exiting hotel and walk 10 yards) 'Pekin House' or something, really great value, crispy duck the best Ive had in years, we must have had a few birds between us at starters....mmmm
Great location for all the usual Playa things, so you can make your own choices, would rec to anyone who has a brain cell. Great for the fun luvin 30's and 40's, not for the beer swillin louts...Enjoy
