“Good Value”

Been reading some of the comments from previous travellers and found the differing views really perplexing. We booked because we were looking for a low cost holiday to escape the British winter and to be honest having read some of the reviews before leaving we were not expecting too much. What we did find was an older type property which was clean with good food and very nice helpful staff. The area beside the hotel is for future development and is not the most pleasing on the eye on the plus side however is that there is no noise other than that created within the complex. When we were there the rule of no unruly behaviour after 12 was adhered to by the guests. There was entertainment laid on daily for kids and adults alike or if you prefer the beach is only a 15-20 min stroll or for the less able a free bus was laid on.
The menu we found was varied with a good range of food available we were there for a week and apart from breakfast a different menu was served daily. Drinks were freely available within the restaurant or at the bar which we found was unmanned only on the odd occasion not as some of the previous reviewers suggest as being common place.
Overall yes I agree that the hotel is not the most modern and could benefit from some refurbishment however the pool is well maintained and cleaned daily as is the area surrounding it. What you do get though I feel is value for money if you want 5 star then I would suggest going elsewhere and be prepared to pay the price. We spoke to many guests who have used the hotel several times and that to me is testament to the value given. Would I return or recommend ? The answer is a resounding yes from me

Room Tip: not suitable for disabled as all rooms on two floors

“TERRIBLE HOTEL”

booked for christmas & new year ( so was not cheap) did not last 24hrs.
We were ignored at the bar when some one was actually there because we were not stood in the right place.
Other guests were serving themselves.
When we were finally served the drinks were disgusting even our young daughter refused to drink the cola.
Food was cold, limited choice & did not look edable only ate chips once & was ill for 2days.
Would not recommend this hotel even for a budget holiday location & rooms were also bad with rooms having a set of very dangerous stairs to reach terrace, bathroom & bedroom no good for children or anyone unsteady on there feet they are a accident waiting to happen.
Complained to rep who was very helpful but as we wanted to be moved he had to get in touch with his boss a GRAHAM WHEELER (cosmos holidays) who came down & after spending 15 minutes with us & asking us for a further £3000.00 (on top of the 4 we paid for a family of 3 which we refused to pay) to be moved he decided he did'nt like the way my husband was speaking to him and called the police.
We were moved sometime later free of charge & after Mr Wheeler had telephoned us to apoligise for calling the police.
So not only avoid this hotel DO NOT BOOK WITH COSMOS.

“Good value relaxing holiday!”

Just back from 1 week at Maspalomas Oasis Club. Paid £360 each, this included - all inclusive, 1 bag (20kg) to share, transfers and credit card charge. Found on icelolly.com and booked with Low Cost Packages. The Maspalomas Oasis Club is basic accommodation but good value for money and we enjoyed our time there. The weather was 21- 25 everyday with 2 cloudy days but was still hot. The bungalows are on 2 floors, with a patio area, lounge/kitchenette downstairs, upstairs is a bathroom and bedroom. The pool area is not large, but we found a nice sun bathing spot near to the tennis court and volleyball area. We were a bit disappointed that the outdoor pool bar doubled up as the evening entertainment bar, this did get a bit chilly in the evening and the chairs a bit uncomfortable. The entertainment we saw we enjoyed especially the reptile show! The drinks we thought were great, cocktails, beer, spirits and soft drinks (juice was a bit dodgy though). The meals were ok, not very exciting but you have to remember what you paid as it is very good value even if you eat out a few times. Breakfast was good with the usual eggs, beans, sausages, fruit, yoghurt, toast, pastries, cheese and ham. In the evening and lunch there was always a few meat options, a fish option, chips, pasta, soup, various salads and desserts. We always found enough choice for a decent meal. There is not much near by apart from a supermarket, a nature trail (near roundabout on way to Maspalomas) and a Chinese restaurant (very nice if you want to treat yourselves to your own themed evening!). Maspalomas is half and hour walk away or 3-4 euros in taxi and taxis were easy to find wherever we were. There is a beach area with restaurants, you can walk along the beside river bed to get here. There is also the town area which is a mix of shops but mainly posh ones with cheaper ones in the shopping centre. You can also walk to Playa del Ingles although this did take us about an hour (we may not have gone the most direct route though! Taxi about 4 euros). Here there is a shopping area with night life and there is a beach area with restaurants. The dunes are amazing we did a great walk from here back to Maspalomas which took about an hour along the beach. Overall I would say that Maspalomas Oasis Club was a good value place to stay, the staff were always helpful and happy and we had everything we wanted to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

“Value for money”

We stayed at this hotel / bungalows , when we got there I looked at the tiny dated reception n thought omg what have we booked . The place itself is only small ,the bungalow we got the room was big but the bedroom was to small for two adults, cases n a cot. The food was nice something different more or less everyday. The staff were very friendly and it was a nice quite relaxing place to stay . The only downside was our bungalow was to small and our view was a wall. Other than that we would defo stay there again.

“Basic but clean”

We are just back after spending Xmas at the Oasis Club.
We arrived at 21.30 on Xmas Eve to be told that the Bar was shutting in half an hour and that there was a small food parcel in the apartment (2 x bottles of water , 4 x slices of bread, 2x slices of ham , 2x slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato and cucumber + 2 passed there best apples and bananas.).The apartment was very basic, anything apart from the fridge had to be hired , there was no air conditioning , no soap in the bathroom, no bath mats or shower mats. The walls were thin and you could hear the neighbours at either side and below especially in the bathroom where there was a vent which seemed to link the 4 apartments.
The Gala dinner was alright but in general the food was poor and usually cold, the drink was the cheapest of cheap and many times the residents had to go behind the bar and help themselves. The location wasn't that great either although it was on the bus route and a taxi rank was nearby.
On the positive side the staff were very freindly and worked hard, the entertainer worked his socks off with the kids and there was a very good rapport amongst the guests of all nationalities, this family style atmosphere really saved the holiday. I don't think we will be back
but I can see how it would suit many other people.
