The bungalows are quite small but were sufficient for two adults and a child. It was good having the separate bedroom as my son could go through and play his DS or portable DVD player and we could get some peace. Although classed as self catering the cooking facilites consisted of a two ring hob, a kettle and a toaster. There was adaquate plates and pans and everything was really clean. The bungalows are a little way out from the beach and main resort but there is a free bus during the day and a taxi is only 3 euro. The staff were really helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The pool is clean and there are plenty of sun loungers. While we were there they were carrying out maintance all the time, replacing any broken tiles or touching up the paint work. None of this work was intrusive and showed that they really looked after the place. I would recommend that you use the supermarket at the Faro 2 Shopping Centre, about a 10 minute walk away rather than buy the more expensive products from the onsite shop. There are also some nice places to eat at the Faro 2 but most of the shops have closed down. It is only about 3euros for a taxi down to the lighthouse at Maspalomas and there are plenty of places to eat there.
I would definitely recommend that you go to Palmitos Park which was excellent, although a little expensive. We also went to Crocodille Park but this was not so good, looked run down and we left quite quickly. Holiday World, just a ten minute walk away is fun for adults and kids alike. If you go to Holiday World I would recommend you try the XD Cinema experience. It was amazing. One of the highlights of our holiday was a visit to Sioux City. It was built as a film set for a western and now is run as a theme park. You can see bank robberies and bar fights with burly actors dressed as cowboys. You can also wander freely around the wild west town. It was brilliant and my son had to have a cowboy hat and gun and went around 'shooting' everyone, having the time of his life.
We were stopped continually by agents from Anfi Resort who offered a free day out at Anfi with transport there and back and free tickets for the glass bottom boat. They assured us that this was not a timeshare, there were just promoting this resort and would like us to look around. The resort is about 15 minutes taxi ride away and has a white sand beach that was imported from the carribean. We were told that the beach is private etc and we could use it as long as we liked as long as we agreed to look around the complex. We finally agreed and had to spend two hours with an agent who agreed that it was a timeshare facility. After two hours I gave them a resounding no, although the resort is lovely, they had not been entirely true with the information they provided. The beach is open to the public (by law they cannot have private beaches in Spain) and the shops and restaurants in the complex are also open to the public. It is only the hotel itself which is private. As we had our own hire car we came back to Anfi beach several times during the holiday and infact spent Christmas Day sunbathing and swimming there. It is a lovely beach and if you get a chance I would recommend you go, even if you take advantage of the timeshare reps and sit through their speil, they provide a taxi there and back.
I would also recommend that you visit Puerto De Mogan. It is the most beautiful place I have visited in a long time and if I return to Gran Canaria I would definitely stay there. You can visit it by glass bottom boat from several of the resorts. Fridays are the busiest as they have a market that day and the small town is crowded. The market is pretty much full of stalls selling rip off watches, leather bags, tacky clothes and the usual tat that is sold in markets all over. There were only a few stalls that sold artisan crafts so this was disappointing.
The Maspalomas sand dunes are amazing and you only have to walk along the beach a little way from the lighthouse to get the 'desert' experience. It was fantastic climbing up them, only to run down the other side.
We spent a day driving up in the mountains and this was excellent as there was no cloud that day. We also visited the Botanical Gardens up by Las Palmas and the Bandama Crater, which was very impressive.
I would recommend these bungalows to anyone who is looking for good clean basic accommodation.
