“Good place for familys”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

A good resort for familys with children. Large area with several pools. A bit of a long walk if you want to go to the beach.

Food is at best OK, breakfast is reasonably good, but don't buy all incusive. There are two restaurants on the premises, the italian one has good food and live music in the evening (not too loud).

Good celaning for the most, only thing that is disturbing the impression is that there were a lot of cockroaches along the poolside where we were one of the days. We dit'nt have problems in the room (just two - don't leave food on the table).

“Good accomodation. Clean, pleasant & tidy!”

Stayed here for 15 days in october 2011. The bungalows are spacious and clean with all the essentials. The rooms were cleaned everyday except thursday and sunday. We recieved new towels monday, wednesday and friday and new sheets once a week. People may have a problem with this, but there are a number of towels and I don't mind having the sheets changed once a week as this is normal for me at home! Everything was what we expected for the price we paid! The only thing was the heat. We arrived when it was unseasonably warm and we were too warm and sweaty at night. We hired an "air conditioning" unit for the two weeks we were there, but this didn't really work and was more like a big noisy fan. The hotel didn't supply this, but if they did then i'd definately give the hotel a five out of five.

“Great for Families...”

We booked Dunas Maspalomas as a last minute deal about a month before departure. We didn't know what to expect as we had not booked an all inclusive package before. In hindsight, more research would have been sensible... but you live and learn!

Staff & Service -
Reception staff were poor. Unfriendly and not always happy to help. Often stood at the desk watching three people look at a computer screen whilst being ignored. This was not the kind of service we would expect from any star-rated hotel. Responses to our questions made us feel a little like we were stupid for not knowing the answers, or the responses were short and delivered at speed. Some staff were an exception to this rule.
Restaurant service was ok, some friendly staff, but businesslike in their approach.
Bar staff were all great! Specifically Jesus, who was absolutely hilarious with his dry brand of sarcastic humour. He asked us about our day every night and seemed genuinely interested in our holiday. Finally, Maarten from the Entertainments team. He recognised that we were a couple of very few young people at the resort and took time to come and sit with us, get to know us and have a chat. The guy was great to hang out with, but also fantastic with the kids and families around the resort. An absolute credit to the hotel!

Room-
Nice and simple, as expected from a 3*. Comfortable to hang out in, but hotter than the fires of hell, especially at night. Air con would be a welcome investment for this hotel! :) We didn't spend much time in the room, as we like to go and see things. Clean, tidy, and with regular maid visits. Terrace and garden furniture was a nice touch, as it was lovely sitting out on our private terrace.

Food-
Tasty, and befitting of the 3* standard. Good choice and variety, but with a samey feel. Highlights were freshly cooked steaks, prawns and fish. Breakfast was the same every day, but that wasn't an issue. Only had one lunch as we were away from the hotel most of the time, but it was very good from what we saw. Make sure you try the traditional Canarian stews (Cuttlefish was amazing!) and get your large portions of Mojo Sauce. Yum!

Complex-
Clean and tidy with lots of vegetation and palm trees, which was lovely. Pools were well maintained and there is much choice of pools. (6 to choose from!)

Overall-
We are a couple, and both aged under 26, and we felt that the resort, although lovely, was aimed solely at families. There could of been more mature entertainment on offer for couples such as ourselves, In future we would be more concerned about this before booking. In the pools, we felt uncomfortable, as we did not have kids, and a lot of people stared at us as if we were being inappropriate. Unavoidable, but not welcomed. Perhaps an addition of an adults only pool might buck this trend?
Finally, on checking out we were disappointed by the service at reception (once again!). Our flight was not until 19.30, but we had to check out at 12.00. We were offered a place to store our bags and use of a courtesy room, but our all-inc wristbands were cut off, and we were told we would now have to pay for drinks if we wanted them. We felt that this was unfair, and an accommodation could of been made for us to have a few cold drinks in the afternoon heat whilst waiting for our transfer.
All in all, a great resort if you are coming with children, however if you are coming without, we would recommend you try somewhere a little more upbeat. When we have kids, we'll probably be back!

Room Tip: Try and ask for pool view.

“highly recommended, the place to stay.”

Hi all, just got back from dunas maspalomas bungalows enjoying a weeks all inclusive with the wife and we loved every minute of it. Firstly...... if you have read any bad comments or negatives about this complex then IGNORE THEM. This place is great and full credit should be given to the management and staff who go out of their way to make your stay everything you expect it to be and more. I am a very fussy eater but i loved the wide variety and choice available at every meal time. You will not go hungry at the dunas bungalows, The bungalows themselves are very clean and tastefully decorated all with their own table and chairs outside and very near the large swimming pools, ok, they have no air conditioning but remember these are 3 star and this is what you are paying for but i would still give them 4 stars all things considered. The gardens are stunning and very well kept and no expense is spared in keeping this complex clean and up to date, I will be returning to the dunas maspalomas bungalows next year but this time i will be bringing my 3 young children and several family members and friends who are anxious to come along after me telling them about my visit, I cant wait and seriously...... If you want a great holiday with great food and drinks and very friendly management and staff then choose dunas maspalomas bungalows, you wont regret it, adios and enjoy.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view, you can walk straight out of your bungalow every morning and its all there in f...

Me and my sister have just returned from Gran Canaria & our stay at the Dunas. This is our second year here (our 6th year in Maspalomas). We've had another fantastic time! Staff always friendly, cleaning staff (especially Melonie - thanks for cleaning our room so efficiently), animation team excellent, bar staff fantastic - Jesus you are a legend. Reception staff very helpful - Eduardo you have a excellent team. Restaurant staff always polite & very attentive. Had an excellent bungalow this year. So sad to leave the place (and the cats - our favourite who we nicknamed Vinny was there to meet us on our arrival - she is ginger & white with a funny ear) - she is so precious. Met some fantastic people this year - what a blast. Can't wait for next year!!
