“Hidden Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

Stayed here for over 2 weeks in May last year.. You know the place really is a bit of a hidden gem... Its quite, romantic, fantastic pool scene, close to the Yumbo center (great for Gay couples)
The Gym lets it down, very poor out of date equipment and very small. I don't think that management realize just how important it is these days to keep an 'up to date' gym in place...
One of the best features about the whole place is the very fantastic restaurant by the pool at night....This takes some beating, no matter where you go on the island...Fantastic service, fantastic menu and food to match. I think we were paying about 20 Euro's per person for 3 courses of very high quality food with presetation to match.....And the icing on the cake...THE VIEW! Amazing.....
I have since moved to Gran Canaria and we have been back several times to eat! What does that tell you.........Cheers also to the very friendly and talented Italian cheff.......Que Rico!! I would highly recommend this hotel..

“Best option for SPA and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

Vital Suites Hotel is situated where Avenida de Gran Canaria meets Avenida de Bonn, some 0,5 km south of the point in Tripadvisors map. This is a small hotell on the western border of Playas del Inglés area, placed high on the steep slope above the Maspalomas Golf area with a spectacular view to the south west over the big hotels in Meloneras, the tall lighthouse marking the south point of the island, the Sahara style Dunes and the sea. The buildings are well planned and new, but in a charming classic style. The pool area with lots of palms and flowers has two medium sized poools and a childrens pool. At this time of year, in January, we found the pool area perfect for relaxing, with lots of sunshine, temperatures around +25 C, a cooling wind and perfect service from the bar. In summer time the place may be too hot, due to the distance to the sea. Rooms are generous suites with large living room, bed room and barth room. Furniture and equipment seems new and cleaning is spotless. The rooms in the northern part of the building, nearest to the reception, has got the best view over the sea. The rooms in the ground level in the main building have no view, but all rooms have a balcony or a privat area in the garden. SPA-treatments are exellent with a good value for money. Food is well over expectation. International breakfast with a huge ammount of alternatives and lots of fresh fruits. Very nice salads and warm dishes at the pool bar, at a price that will keep you from eating anywhere else. Dinners are extreamly tasty and well cooked by the italian chef, but with little attention to the "dolce", so you will probably have the allways present fresh domestic and tropical frutis. Finally, all members of the staff are very friendly and professional, working hard to provide a top international level of service.

Guests are mainly middle aged and seniors with partners and the style is quiet and well behaved.

Given the advantages there is really not much to say on the negative side, but the gym room is too small with only a few machines. Staff has got a habit of making noice when cleaning up before 10 PM when the restaurant is closing. The top floor rooms in the main building have bedrooms facing the street and in the same level, so there may be some disturbance from local traffic, if you are unused.

Shopping center in Playa del Inglés, with lots of shops and restaurants, and the famous Dunes are within walking distance.

Over all this is a top quality hotel with great value for money for relaxing, resting, and having SPA treatments.

“Much better than I had hoped!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

At the beginning of November I spent 9 nights at Vital Suites with my wife, and 2 year old daughter.I had researched the resort prior to going and thought it might be a little out of date. I couldn't have been more wrong. The resort was excellent and we had a wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate to go back there again. I am picky about hotels - I have slept in hotels around 700 nights in the last 5 years and can say this particular hotel deserves it's 4 star rating.

Firstly we had booked via booking.com and got a reasonable deal at 144 Euros per night for bed and breakfast. The booking.com system confirmed the reservation for 2 persons although we had searched for 2 plus a child. We decided to confirm directly with the hotel and spoke with Julian on the front desk. He assured us the child would be included and was very helpful. He said he would reserve a nice room. We spoke Spanish, but later found all the front desk staff spoke English and some German.

The hotel looks very low key from the road. It looks like a single storey building, but is actually three levels. On the road side you enter to the top level and the accomodation is on that floor and two further levels below.

On checking in we found Julian had provided a bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine - a lovely touch and the fruit was great with my daughter. We had booked a Jr Suite - which was a good sized bedroom and a separate lounge with a sofa bed. Everything was spotless, and the bathroom was very nicely appointed in marble and tile. Twin sinks was also handy and my daughter thought the bidet was a sink just for her!!!!

Our room (205) was a ground floor overlooking the pool with a small terrace with a couple of chairs and a table. Our terrace faced the morning sun so we grabbed the sunbeds at the end of our garden each morning. Lovely.

The pool looks at first like one large pool with a bridge crossing it. It is actually two separate pools which was great because when we were there one side was heated and the other not. Very nice to have the choice of temperatures for different times of the day. The pool didn't have much for children, although there is a small paddling pool also. <y daughter loved the pool though (warm side) and loved turning on the pressure jet shower and waterfall feature. However this is an adults pool - not too much in the way of entertainment for the kids.

There is also a spa on the lowest level (kids not allowed and nudity commonplace), There is a large warm pool with bubble jets in a rotating sequence. The spa also had a sauna, Turkish bath and solarium with some showers and relaxing areas. Very nice to have free access to all that as a hotel guest and treatments could be booked at additional cost (not too expensive).

Breakfast was served in the on site restaurant - very nice buffet with a mix of fruits, cheeses, meats, cereals and so on on the cold side with a few hot items also. The staff would also cook eggs to order too. Overall very satisfied with the breakfast. There was cava available also for those that wanted a bucks fizz (mimosa). Nice touch. The staff were attentive in providing coffee and clearing emptied plates. They also made a fuss over our daughter - as did all the staff in the resort.

We ate at the pool bar several times. They had a reasonably varied menu and not at all expensive. We never felt ripped off eating at the hotel, although there were plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel also. The full board meal plan looked excellent also - the meals being served on the poolside terrace which overlooks the golf course and with a view to the Dunes and the sea. Lovely sunsets there also!

The room was well cleaned every day and the staff all round the hotel were lovely. The room was very well insulated for sound by the way. My daughter had a couple of tearful nights and our neighbours said they didn't hear a thing - so that was great. Canarians can be a bit direct/straight faced which might come across to some as grumpy or rude, but knowing the people (we have family there), I can say these people were not grumpy. The staff worked VERY hard and long hours but they always seemed happy to oblige our requests whatever they were. Can't fault the staff in any way.

The hotel atmosphere was very quiet and friendly. The other guests were at least 50% gay couples (this hotel is listed on Thomsons Freedom range - = gay friendly). For us that was fine and somehow very relaxing. There were no problems around the pool and people were friendly and fun without being loud. Some women were topless around the pool and no one seemed to be bothered - so that was nice for my wife.

The hotel is being maintained very well. Another guest (on his fourth visit) told me that the firm Dunas had pulled out around 18 months ago and he noticed there were improvements since then. I can believe that - it did look well maintained to my eye.

The hotel is not located too near the beach. You can walk to the beach, but a taxi is a better idea. It is close to restaurants and about 7 to 10 minutes walk to the Yumbo center, which offers a lively atmosphere. However we were looking for tranquillity and we certainly got that.

Highly recommend this hotel. It has a small hotel atmosphere and offers great value plus everything you need for a restful holiday. We'll certainly be going back.

“Amazing Hotel for the upmarket traveller.”

This is a true gem! I have been to Gran Canaria on a number of occasions and always seem to end up going back the Yumbo centre for the nightlife. This hotel is a 5 minute walk away, yet oozes tranquility in both its setting and the vistas looking over Maspalomas Golf Course and the Atlantic.

Rooms are apartment size (only missing a kitchen) with double sinked bathroom and spacious lounge. I had a ground floor suite opening onto a personal patio space which linked directly to the pool area (a few steps to a peaceful pool bar/ restaurant). As common with many Canarian locations the pool area can prove to be slightly blustery!

The pool is a good size and nice design, with loungers (free towels provided) and seating by the bar. A few steps led down to a small garden area which looked directly across to the Atlantic (around 2 miles away) and golf courses (the hotel is set above this on a ridge).

Breakfast included a good buffet. Lunch was had by the pool which too was as you would expect. Choose to eat out i the evening.

The reception staff were polite and willing to serve. Reception leads straight onto a quiet residential road with a short walk to the towns amenities. If you are a beach love it is worth getting a taxi.

The hotel also hosts a complimentary spa for guests including a large thermal pool (like a huge jacuzzi with alternating flows of water, 2 x saunas, steam room and ice pool, therapy showers and large range of treatments such as massage (which are payable).
The spa is set beneath the hotel and is a beautiful escape. I loved the passage ways down to the spa, it certainly felt as though you were entering a retreat. The gym however was poor, not worth mentioning.

I would certainly return to this hotel - it provided a the holiday I needed and although set in a busy resort, kept it own character and peace.

“perfect for a short stay; value for your money”

For a short stay in Gran Canaria I did choose this small hotel. Although I arrived early at appr. 10hrs. a room was made available within half an hour. For the time I had to wait I was offered to use a breakfast (I had booked half board, but expected the breakfast would start the next day). All staff was very friendly. A nice pool with suficient chairs. a nice view from your room to a nearby golf area and mas palomas. The dinner was serviced nearby the pool. The food was perfect. And again all staff was very friendly and helpfull. A hotel to visit again. The rooms are big, but a little "dated". The spa, too was a little "dated", but the massages were a a very good professional quality.
