We are just back from a really lovely stay in this hotel. I had read lots of reviews and wanted to stay someplace comfortable and affordable. Although we paid more for this hotel than the average accommodation in Maspalomas, it was worth it!
A few important things though if you are considering your stay, I wish some people had been clearer in their reviews.. so hope this helps you!
- Breakfast : excellent choice of food and a great variety of healthy options. I needed soya milk and it was available, I like peppermint tea and they had it and a huge variety of fruits, cereals, eggs, sausages etc... very happy with this inclusive option
- Distance from beach - I am a beach lover so this was important to me. The beach is a good 20 minute walk. Just come prepared, bring comfortable walking shoes and you won't feel the walk down. Go to the Riu Palace and walk through the arch and you are just straight out onto the spectacular dunes. Bear in mind the beach is about a 20 minute walk across the dunes or you can walk along the promenade to get there. Just note it is a walk but this is not a bad thing and the hotel offers a lovely space for sunbathing and swimming so you just get to exercise lots if you walk to the beach
- Eating out - we ate out in close by restaurants but also went down into Playa Del Ingles one night for some pubs and nightlife. My boyfriend had proposed so we had lots to celebrate!!
Besides being annoyed by people dragging you into their restaurants, the steaks were fantastic and the sizzling garlic prawns a must.
- Facilities at the hotel: the pool area is beautiful so we ended up staying here quite a bit as the walk some days seemed like a hassle. We had planned to use the Spa but with only a few short days stay I preferred staying out in the sun.
- Weather - get up early as it gets cloudy at the moment in the afternoons. Really great sunshine, got a lovely sun tan and feel refreshed. Will more than likely go back for a quick trip away from work.
- Hotel staff: room cleaned every day, lovely friendly staff. Main desk staff, don't expect chirpy friendly staff. I was disappointed with this part but I got over it.
- Bed: looks hard and I am fussy as have a recovery injury but slept excellently so got over my initial disappointment.
Overall for the money I was very happy... the jogs to the dunes and the walks to the restaurants were all fantastic. A lot of older people at the resort but this was fine as I was looking for a relaxing space away from work with my boyfriend.
Enjoy the stay if you go, defintely 3/4*
