As this was the cheapest accomodation we found in the Maspolomas / Playa del Ingles area we didn't really expect much, but we were pleasently surprised. On arrival to the cool, underground reception we were greeted by the staff, who throughout our stay could not have been more helpful. We were given the keys to our apartment, a voucher for a free drink at the bar, a free pass to Maspolomas beach and information on how to use the safe in our room. Although our room was basic, it was very comfortable and most importantly it was extremeley clean. There was a bottle of water waiting on the table for us, which we thought was a goog idea especially if you arrive through the night. The bedroom had two single beds, plenty of storage and as it was at the back of the apartmentm, it was cool at all times. The bathroom was pretty standard for the Canary Islands. The kitchen had a refridgerator, 2 rings for cooking and was well equiped with crockery and cutlery. There was also a dinning area and sitting area with a tv. As Surycan was situated quite high up, from the balcony it had very nice views over Maspolomas and out to sea. On site there was a nice, fair sized swimming pool that was never full, games room, internet access and a supermarket that sold everything you need. Overall we had an enjoyable stay that was extremely good value for money and when we next go back to Gran Canaria we will definately be staying at the Sur Y Can.
