I lived in Maspalomas for several years and our families came to visit quite alot. Parque Nogal was where they always stayed. This place is fantastic and a great base to explore the south of the island. Ok it is not slap bang in the middle of Playa De Ingles or Puerto Rico but why anyone would want to stay in the middle of either these horrible resorts is beyond me (unless of course your 18-25 and want to party all night). If you are looking for some where off the beaten track but only a 5 min walk or taxi ride to restaurants/Holiday World/Yumbo Centre/playa de Ingles beach/Maspalomas beach (there is actually a complimentary bus that brings you to and from Maspalomas beach where you can find a lovely walkway with fab views, good shops and lovely restaurants) then pick here. The apartments are 2 story with a bedroom (2 single beds) and a bathroom upstairs. Downstairs has a sofa bed plus a kitchen with a breakfast bar/stools. There is a large fridge/freezer which is really great if staying with family as you can go to the nearby HiperDino shopping centre (San Fernando) and stock up for the stay (save you a few euro also!). There is also a small yard out the back, handy for hanging washing/swimsuits. Each apartment has a small terrace with table and chairs and there is also a balcony off the bedroom upstairs.
The swimming pool is big and plenty of sun loungers. There is a restaurant (never ate here) and bar. There is a laundry room, internet in the lobby (not free), pool table, t.v. room downstairs (there is a T.V. in each apartment). It is quite in the evenings so not suitable for night owls wanting to come back and have a few drinks as it gets really quite after 11p.m. This is an ideal spot for anyone with children or older couples looking for somewhere relaxing and quiet. The staff are professional, not in your face and the maid service is great. This has to be one of the best value places around in the south of the island. If anyone would like any more advice on Gran Canaria don't hesitate to ask.
