“Wrong part of town.”

Two storey apartments- not bungalows! Decent enough accomodation, but single beds slide apart during night and poor swerage system left occasional smell not long after flushing. Cleaners good, but every second day and not sundays. Reception staff not so helpful unless asking them to book tours for which they received commission- they were very friendly then. On not so nice part of maspalomas 1.5miles walk to beach or free morning hourly bus, this walk did not feel safe to walk back from either maspalomas or playa del ingles at night. No water one of the mornings due to issues with the pool. Dont touch the cappuccino unless you like muddy hot water with spray cream on top. Fine to stay here if out all day like us and need a bed at night or just plan on staying sunbathing.

“Stayed March 2011”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Stayed here during March 2011. Was clean, tidy and a lovely place.

We stayed not far from the eating area but wifi signal was very weak in our apartment.

We had room only but one night we ate in the restaurant when they had a BBQ. It was amazing so do it if u can!

“Relaxed, clean & friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We stayed during November 11 and had a really relaxing week.
The accomodation is clean, tidy and well maintained.
We self catered as there are plenty of small supermarkets in the area.
We had the hotel breakfast once and was not particulary impressed.
We were originally allocated a room overlooking the road. Even though its not too busy the accomodation was dark as it was North facing. I requested a change to the golf side and our name was put on a list. After two days we were moved and it was much better with the sun shining in and watching the golfers. May be too warm in the simmer as theres only a fan on each level.
You have to pay for the tv and safe. We did not use the tv.
bring your own towles for the sunbeds, They do not have adjustable head supports so are uncomfortable after a while.
Theres only one restaurant in the local area about 5 minute walk. Theres an old shopping mall with very little open, but there were two restaurants that looked busy and a small bar. No views just concrete!
The main resort is a 20 minute walk along a pedestrian walkway. We were OK but may be a bit too much for girls on their own. If you walk down the left side at the end is an entrance to the dunes were gay men hang around. We didn't have any problems.
There are enough bars and restaurants in Maspalomas. Reasonable prices as there is a new complex with up market bars/restaurants and shops.
Try the Bali by the casino, its excellent and very authentic.
Also walk along the boradwalk on the sand and you'll find a great irish bar.
Playa de ingles was about a 30minute walk. Its set up with a few bar/reasturant locations, gay, irish etc. Again these do not have any views. Those down by the beach are better.
You can walk between the two resorts along the sand, but be aware the whole area is nudist and they're not shy!
Attached is a map of the two resorts and hotel layout.
You can use the golf bar & restaurant, just no beachwear. they rae friendly and reasonably priced. Food is good, beer is cool and there's nice views over the course.

Room Tip: In the summer a south facing room may be too hot. Rooms facing the pool area do get noisy in the ev...

“Beautiful hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel for 1 week, and although the bungalows are quite small, the rest of the hotel makes up for this in sheer relaxation and beauty. Lets face it, you're not going to spend a lot of time in your room other than sleeping, and the beds are so comfortable that I had the best sleep I've had in years!

I stayed half board and the food was lovely. Also, it's worth noting that during the breakfast times and dinner times (each of which are several hours), you get unlimited free coffee, and the coffee was utterly incredible. I spent a lot of time sitting at the pool bar, reading a book and drinking what must have amounted to their entire coffee supply!

The area around the hotel is very quiet, so there isn't much of a nightlife, but this suited me perfectly. I was there to relax and unwind, not to party until the small hours of the morning. If you do want night life though, Meloneras and Playa del Ingles are quite nearby. In the evenings, after enjoying some of the entertainment, I preferred to walk back to my bungalow and sit out on the patio for a while. Many people had the same idea, and you could see families and groups of friends sitting outside with bottles of wine, just enjoying the surroundings.

I found that some of the staff spoke English very well, but others had trouble understanding me. I think this is because this area if frequented by Germans more often than Brits, and so German is more widely spoken. This never amounted to a problem though, since I was always understood enough to communicate effectively. One good thing about the prevalence of German tourists is that the area has adopted some German traditions - namely coffee and cake deals. I sat in a wonderful outdoor restaurant with a large slice of chocolate cake and a delicious coffee for only 2 Euros.

The free bus to the beach stops right outside the hotel, although the beach is actually within relatively easy walking distance if you'd rather take in the surroundings (the streets near the hotel are lovely to wander around). I would recommend going to the reception and picking up some leaflets, there are coach tours to some of the mountainous regions of Gran Canaria and they're quite cheap, I realised this too late unfortunately and missed out.

I loved this hotel and if/when I go back to Gran Canaria, I would definitely return here. Oh, I forgot to mention, if you go in winter (from November 15th onwards), the pool outside the bar is heated, so I recommend swimming in this one since the other will be cold.

“Small dark apartment poor catering equipment and layout.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

1st time on Gran canaria. We arrived at our hotel about1pm . Lugged our bags up the steps to reception and was met at the desk by a staff member who blew smoke over us after he was out the back balcony smoking. We had a problem on arrival that the room was not ready so we were invited to the bar to buy a drink. Sitting in the warm sun we liked what we saw.
After a hour we got our apartment to find out it was north facing and onto a wall. It was small and had 2 single beds we asked for a view and double bed when booking. We went back to reception and politely asked if we can be moved. He was very rude and said no our name was put on a list and contact us when available. We made the most of it.
The apartment was small poorly laid out i kept banging my head on the stairs the kitchen had no microwave and chipped and worn utensils.
Open plan lounge with a old stained and uncomfy sofa in a 22in budget tv which was extra hire.
Free wifi only in bar area.
The bedroom was small 2 single hard beds on wheels which move about unless wedged with the cabinet with no room for cases stains and wall paper peeling . A double wardrobe with a safe at extra money to hire.
Bathroom small complete with ants and hot water from shower went cold half way thro . The shower head did not hang up was hung over the rail. Our last day the water was not working due to a leak in the pool so had to take water from the pool to flush the loo.
It was not cleaned every day but every other.
Balcony looked inviting but can't fit a chair on so only good for hanging out towels.
The pool was dirty and not warm the food did not look inviting. insecticide was sprayed along the walls of the appartment. Be warned if your pregnant.
We moved to another appartment still north facing but near the pool . Not impressed went out as much as possible as the entertainment was poor and the staff unfriendly and scruffy.
Recromend low cost tours English speaking friendly tour guide called Carlos we did all the coach tours in the island with him thankyou Carlos.
Tours can be booked from reception or at tourist info. So much more to the island the north is green for example. Las palmas is good for shopping with a nice beach. Old volcanos unforgetable views of tennerife island. Book on the tours and see much more also at a small extra cost stop at good resturants on the tour.
It's a 15 minute walk to anywhere depending on fitness the sand dunes are impressive sea was warm big waves i would not let children swim here tho.
We did not feel safe walking in the dark gated and locked hotel after hotel police were visible in cars patrolling.
We would Not visit this site again but will return to the island.
