Really enjoyed our week at the Hotel Dunas. Anyone who finds fault with the food ....... well, I just don't know what to say. Huge choice every night and always something different. Surprised I'mnot the size of a house after our week there. Our room was lovely, far enough away to be quiet but not too far that it felt like miles to walk anywhere. Whilst we were there is was mainly Swedish, Finish and Dutch people at the resort. The pools are outstanding - if you don't fancy one you wander off to another. All very clean and tidy. The gardens were equally well kept. On the down side: the only English TV on the satelite in the rooms was Sky News - not very entertaining, but then I don't go on holiday to watch television. Bit of a long walk down to the beach, but at least it is a flat walk - and stopped me piling on the pounds! We really enjoyed our holiday - maybe echo other people regarding reception - they seem to try to ignore you in the hopes you will go elsewhere, and they need to learn to smile at you more! Other staff - especially the restaurant and cleaning staff - so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Would we go there again? Yes, and I would recommend it to others as well.
We went by local bus to Las Palmas and then went on the tourist bus around the city - really good value, and fun! Bus timetables mean nothing! Just look for the bus number or place name as they don't stick to the times at all.
Also went by bus to Porto Rico then got the boat to Mogan - that's a brilliant day out and so cheap. Unless you want to go to the market, don't do this on a Friday - it was packed.
