We stayed in Tossa De Mar for 3 days and enjoyed the village itself, however, Hotel Avenida did not live up to it's reviews or pictures! It's benefit is it's great location about 4 mins walk from the beach. The lobby itself is very nice, but the rooms are very dated. So much so, that we felt like we were staying in an old nursing home!
The breakfast was good and it was nice to have free wifi when it actually worked. The staff weren't friendly and one bordered on very rude.

Hotel Avenida is not a luxury hotel by any means. The building seems pretty old & not much has been done to the rooms in the way of updating/remodeling. The lobby will have you fooled, though. It is really sleek & modern, so maybe the ultimate plan is to work their way up! Having said that, the rooms are clean & more than adequate for a few nights' stay. (Just don't expect much in the way of amenities!) And our room had an amazing view of the castle & ocean - the terrace was practically as big as the room! So make sure to ask for a sea view.

The hotel staff was extremely friendly & helpful, so we really appreciated that! They will also loan you beach towels if you need them - just ask. Breakfast is included, which was nice after having to buy breakfast every morning in Madrid & Barcelona. The hotel even provided us with a "picnic breakfast" (which turned out to be sandwiches) on our last morning since we left too early for a real breakfast. The customer service at this hotel really can't be beat!

The location is great. You can get to the beach in about 3-4 minutes. In Tossa de Mar you can walk everywhere. If you don't know much about the town, it's a cute little seaside "village" with tons of restaurants (try Santa Marta for the best paella in town!), remnants of an old castle that are great for amazing views, an Old Town that is fun to explore...& a really nice, clean beach for sunbathing & swimming! It's on the quieter side, so at night there isn't much to do other than go to a bar, but if you want nightlife go to Lloret de Mar (about 20 min. away). I'd stick with Tossa de Mar, though - it has much more character & is perfect for a relaxing end to a wonderful vacation!

Overall, we loved our time there & would stay at Hotel Avenida again!

This two star hotel has a modern reception and lounge with clean rooms, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. However, it is situated in an area where the hotels are all pretty much erected side by side, and the initial room I was allocated had a (non) balcony only wide enough for two chairs and a small table, not much else, and faced out to a hotel plot in construction. However, after expressing my dissatisfaction, I was moved into what must have been the room with the best out door space (very important to me when choosing beach holiday accomodation), room 115. Twin beds for my partner and I, as a double wasn't available, but the spacious wisteria surrounded terrace more than made up for this. It did face a wall, and was overlooked by the upper level rooms, but as the hotel wasn't full, this wasn't a problem. It's a good hotel, it's just a shame that it's crowded by other hotels and Blackpool style beach toy shops.

We stayed here for three nights. It is very clean and well kept just as other reviews have said. It is only a short walk to the beach, restaurants and shopping and for us was a great location. The breakfast buffet was nice and after being in Barcelona for three nights was convenient because we didn't have to go out for breakfast. There is a nice little store next door you can get snacks and pop. For us the wifi did not work so we used the computers in the lobby briefly (1 euro for 20 minutes) to check email; not very convenient but just means we spent more time sunbathing on the beach which is better anyway. I would stay here again.
