We have just returned from a 12 day stay at this apart hotel and last year we stayed at the Vasco De Gama Hotel next door but enjoyed this better. We had a very clean,spacious one bed apartment with all the facilities provided...Room maids were exceptional and kept our room spotless..fresh towels each day and linen changed regularly..Reception staff very polite and helpful and the whole hotel was to a very high standard...Very few British tourists but that suited us as the guests were from many countries....Access from the rear of the hotel right onto the miles of open beach which we walked on for hours which is so enjoyable.
Restaurants very close by and everywhere is so accessable although the area in my opinion is not suited for disabled guests as it is not wheelchair friendly..Bikes available from the hotel at 4 Euros, bus stop 20 metres away and public transport is very cheap to local resorts for days out....Plenty of places to visit including a 1.65 Euro trip on the ferry across the river estuary to Spain..Plenty of restaurants in Monte Gordo offering three course 12 Euro tourist menus but get off the main streets and try the small local places for a real treat.
All round this aparthotel offers excellent facilities and we will definately be re visiting.

Premises right at the beach; also great pool. Apartments are cleaned everyday. Monte Gordo is a nice place for older people and people with children, that love the beach or pool.

We have just returned from ten days at the Duna Mar and had a fantastic time. The hotel is right on the beach (no roads to cross) and the beach is beautiful -miles of golden sand. The hotel itself is very well run and ideal for families. It's kept very clean and seems to run very efficiently. We were self-catering and had a sea-view apartment, which we loved. The apartment has a two ring electric hob, a microwave, toaster and fridge. There's no oven or kettle but there is a coffee machine. There's a self-service launderette in the basement.
There is a cafe by the pool which is open lunchtime - excellent food and friendly service.

We did a day trip to Seville using Paradise Tours (they ran on the day we wanted and were also the cheapest. They were also very good - we were picked up at the hotel at 8.15, in Seville about 1.5 hours later and had over 4 hours free to explore the city). On another day we took the bus in to Vila Real de Santo Antonio (2.10 euros single, takes about 15 minutes and leaves from outside the Vasco de Gama Hotel next door). This is an interesting Portugese town to look around. You can also take a ferry over to Spain (1.60 euros single) and explore the town of Ayamonte.
On other days we were very happy to spend time on the beach or by the swimming pool. Our teenagers were content but this is not the resort if you want lots of night life other then walking along the promenade, looking at the market stalls and eating waffles and ice cream. For us it was just what we wanted - a very relaxing holiday.
The hotel had very few English guests when we were there which was fine by us. The reception staff all speak English and were helpful. There are some organised activities - aqua aerobics, beach volleyball etc and the cheerful leader gave instructions in both Portugese and English.
We don't usually go on holiday to the same place twice but would certainly consider returning to the Duna Mar .

Stayed for a week in August 2010 and wouldnt mind at all returning to this hotel. It is big, clean and nicely maintained. The apartments are roomy, fresh enough and functioning well. Monte Gordo is lovely and located only 3 kms from the Spanish boarder,
so excursions both in Portugal (made an excellent day trip to Lisbon) and Spain, Sevilla is close at hand. We really enjoyed our holiday.
