Before staying here, I received some literature that was ambiguous as to exactly how close the hotel is to the Lillestrom conference center. So, just to emphasize: the hotel is indeed immediately adjacent (as in, 100 feet or so?) to the center. And it is a very quick stroll from the train station: no problem at all, unless it is raining! It is the logical choice if you are attending a conference. It is not a good choice if you are primarily touring Oslo and environs.

Pros: clean, functional, single room, which - tho' very small - grew on me, because it was efficient and cozy. Hotel bar was tops: friendly staff, and surprisingly good food!Cons: complimentary breakfast was only adequate in quality (the breads, meats, cheeses, and juices). Vehicle noise can be a problem, if your room faces the main roadway, where cars/trucks "gun it" going up an adjacent hill. This is more of a problem if you need an open window, because the ac is not working (as was the case in my room!). Please request a room AWAY from the roadway.

This hotel is not ideal if you want to visit Oslo, as it is in Lillestrom, and you will require to take the train to get to Oslo and back, which can be frustrating if you come back late. However, it is very nice and incredibly clean! The room looked like it was new, although the hotel has been opened for quite some time. The breakfast is nice, although I never found the bacon. The architecture is modern and I liked the setup of the breafast room overlooking the central hall and the reception. Great to spot people you need to meet. The real plus is the proximity to the conference center. There is an inside connection, which makes it very easy to get to the rooms in shirts or suit even in winter. The service was excellent

Have attended this Hotel every second year at Norship and some IT conference.
High class Hotel with excellent food, easy access both from airport/airport train and Oslo central station. Warm and welcome staff. The Hotel also have nice bath facillities and A La Carte restaurant.

We were attending a large international conference next door (over 2000 delegates) and decided to try the Thon for lunch. We were seated fairly quickly in a rather empty dining room because (as our counterparts later informed us) the hostess was turning guests away and it was only after their questioning of the manager that she was instructed to seat guests! We had a lovely lunch but when it came time to pay the bill it was clear the hostess had no idea how to work the machine. We spent 40 mins trying to pay one bill and she ran the card through 4 times - insisting each time it did not go through. When we got back to Canada we found we were charged each time!!!! When we complained to the manager about the service (immediately after this payment fiasco) he looked like he could care less. He gave no apology nor did he comp a meal. He gave us his card which is the only reason we were able to recup the funds. All in all- i recommend you avoid this hotel and stay in Oslo -the Gabelhaus Clarion kicks this places butt.
