Checkin was both fast and friendly. Had requested a quite room which also was given me.

Hallway outside elevators looked terrible with plenty of stains on the carpet. Room however was in very good condition and fairly big.

WIFI was free being both fairly fast and reliable.

When looking in the bathroom I was wondering why there was a sweeper in the shower.
Why I learned immediately after taking a shower as water flooded over the entire floor. In order to not have the water flood out in the room, I had to use the shower at minimum preassure. Clearly an error when making the floor, but why this not been fixed ? Only one word from my side, terrible !

Breakfast was frrom 07.00. However, breakfast area did not open even though time had passed 07.05. Guests lost their patience and all walked in. Breakfast needs to open no later than 07.00 when having this late opening hour. Very poor of this hotel !

I would definetely not go here again.

We spent a night in this charming hotel on 20 July en route to our next day journey to Bergen (travelling from Oslo). This beautiful hotel is situated in the laps of nature and is just oer an hours drive from Oslo. The room was clean and spacious and had a pleasant decor with free internet/wi-fi connectivity. The food including the breakfast and dinner was good. There were hash browns and different egg preparations in the breakfast which offered variety of choices. There is a big departmental store near the hotel which is very convenient if you are staying longer. The quiet locality has a old Church, Town Hall and a museum in the vicinity and a streaming foamy river flows through the locality having a nice bridge to enjoy the view.

I regularly visit Kongsberg on business, and until recently I've normally preffered my stay in the Gyldenlove hotel. Reasons for this are now historic - they had internet, and quality hotel only had dial-up. This has now changed!

I was pleasantly suprised with the standard of the room. I was in the newer wing of the hotel. It was clean and modern, but somewhat spartan.

Internet is free and fast enough for youtube. Unusually for a chain hotel, you can get your clothes laundered without feeling like you've been robbed! A simple machine wash laundry load is about 120kr, which is much better than the "per item" price lists typical of many other hotels.

The downside of this hotel is the breakfast opening time. It's 7am, and not a minute earlier! Typical consequence is a steady buildup of people waiting in the lobby 10 minutes prior until the barrier is removed and then WHOOOSH! A huge rush a people at 7am into the breakfast self service area, making the whole experience feel somewhat manic. I'm not a morning person even on the best of days! A 7am breakfast is too late when you consider that the start of office hours is 8am in Norway. I'm sure that if they opened the breakfast at 6.45am, then breakfast would feel like a much more relaxed affair for those starting early.

Another downside compared with the Gyldenlove Hotel is that they don't lay on a shuttle bus service to the industripark. Now there are half hourly busses and taxis serving the location, but if like me you have to claim expenses on receipts, you'll prefer to deal with one receipt for your whole stay rather than many. That's something convenient about the shuttle bus that Gyldenlove lays on - it's simply added to your hotel bill, reducing your own paperwork.
