After the Kongsberg vandererhjem, I moved into this hotel for a subsequent week.
Upon opening the door to my room (in the rear extension), I was pleasantly suprised asto how large it was. It was huge! The room standard was very good, with a comfortable bed, sofa and wooden flooring. The main comfort complaint I had was that it was a little cool, but the temperature was -18 degrees outside. The shower floor is heated, such a nice feeling! And it had a digital bedside clock radio, no more squinting at the time on the tiny TV clock at 4am!!
The breakfast food was a standard continental affair, with plenty of choice. I never tried the evening menu, but prices are comparable with good nearby restaurants. I would say though that the ambience of the restaurant falls far short of what other places in town offer.
Depsite the comforts, like most hotels, they put a rip-off price between you and certain basics. Wireless tnternet access is 120Kr per day (or 200kr per week), but there is a machine in the lobby where you can use the internet for free after 4pm. Laundry is on the face of it, obscenely expensive, costing 90kr for a pair of jeans to be cleaned for example. They tell me however that if I bundle clothes together then I can get a bulk cleaning bill of 150kr. Still expensive, but it's within most business peoples expense allowances.
Overall I'd stay here again for upto 2 weeks, and on that basis this hotel comes recommended.
