Location:
The hotel is right in front of the bus station and train station, and is a 5 minute walk to the centre of town (the main shopping and restaurant street).
Hotel Room:
I stayed in a room on the ground floor. It was quite spacious with a view of the side street. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that the bathroom floor tiles were heated. Of course this was the norm for northern european countries who experience cold winters. Temperatures during my stay were between -5 and 6 degC, and the hotel was kept at a very comfortable temperature. The bed was comfortable, and the doona which just fit the top of the bed was warm enough during the nights. The TV is CRT and clarity is ok.
Food:
I only ate breakfast at the hotel - there was the typical continental breakfast items, and loads of bread and delicious cheese. I recommend trying the brown cheese! Hot food was bacon and scrambled eggs. Note: If you arrive on a Sunday, the restaurant is closed (for dinner) and you will need to find a nearby restaurant for food.
Service:
The staff at the front desk were all extremely helpful and friendly. They gave good advice on where to eat, where to find a prepaid SIM and laptop charger, and what to do after-hours including tips on skiing.
Overall:
I will definitely consider staying here again, even though there is only a choice of 3 hotels (I know of) here in Kongsberg.
- Best Western Kongsberg
- Kongsberg Best Western
