I took a class at Kongsberg Maritime, and this was where my company elected to have me and my boyfriend stay. Overall, the hotel was average, but the service was very good. The room we stayed in was rather small...after reading other reviews about large rooms with fireplaces, I have to admit I was a little disappointed. The staff was very good about accommodating us though, I was originally supposed to be in a room with a twin bed, but they moved us into one that would comfortably sleep two adults. They also brought us extra blankets and a space heater for our room, since the central steam wasn't on for the winter yet. Hey, we're from Alabama...Norway was cold to us!
The breakfast buffet was also average, we did manage to find a couple things that we enjoyed. We did not have dinner or drinks at the hotel, as the prices seemed a little steep, even for Norway.
Again, the room was rather small, and the bathroom was tiny...though it did have heated tile flooring, which was nice! The bed was comfortable, though the Norwegian style of bedding took some getting used to, since the comforter is smaller than the bed. There was a mini-fridge in the room, but no toiletries were provided.
The shuttle going to and from the Kongsberg training center was very good and very prompt. For anyone going here for a class there, I would definitely recommend taking the shuttle rather than attempting to drive yourself to class. For other transportation, the hotel is right across the street from the train station, which is very convenient.
All in all, not a bad stay, though it still makes me laugh to think that we traveled halfway around the world to Norway...and stayed in a Best Western!
