Heimly pensjonat is a decent pension with a pretty good breakfast. We (a group of 24) stayed here for one night after doing the "Rallarvegen" bike ride from Finse. The rooms were small, but with comfortable beds which was pretty much what we needed. The view from the rooms at the front were great, but me and my friend got a room at the back side unfortunately. However, since we didn't stay at the room that much, it didn't matter.

The pension had a great living room down stairs which was great for a big group for playing guitar, singing and chatting after the bar closed in Flåm.

The pension sold beer and cider, but 75NOK (10€) is way too expensive for a standard canned beer which costs approximately 25NOK at the local supermarket. It would have been ok if thay had it on tap.

The distance from the quay and train station is about five minutes by foot - perfect!

As a single traveller, trying to travel expediently I was pleased to find the Heimly Pensjonat as its rates are reasonable when compared with the other hotels in Flamn as Norway in general is pretty expensive.
I got one of the rooms at the back - no views, which is disappointing as the view up the fjord is sensational.
The room was very basic - just two single beds, one bedside table, a chair and a lamp. It does have its own ensuite, which was clean, but like other Pensjonats I come across in Norway, the shower is in the middle and only has a shower curtain so, unless you are careful, the water ends up on the floor of the entire bathroom .
Location is fine. Flam is small, it only takes about 5 minutes to walk from one side to the other.

lodging in Flam can be very expensive so I was happy to be able to book one of the few rooms left at this pension for a reasonable. We got one of the rooms with a view and it was definitely worth the extra 100 NOK per night. I didn't really know what to expect, as it was very hard to find many reviews about Heimly online, but now we would definitely stay there again. The staff was polite and the breakfast while basic, it was very good. If in Flam, I would definitely recommend staying at Heimly and if you have time signing up for one of the kayak tours offered by Njord.

I brought my parents for a trip to see the fjords. They are in their 70's and did not find the 500 meter walk from the train to the hotel at all difficult. The driveway is steep, but it's about fifteen feet from the road to the hotel's door. It might be some cause for concern if the weather was icy, but not otherwise. The rooms were linoleum floored, but very very clean. The beds were cots. I mean *fold in the middle* cots, narrow and on the short side, but I thought they were comfortable and the sheets were crisp and the duvets were nice. It's true that the proprietor looked at me oddly every time I asked her anything, but she said yes to every request. There's a really nice room downstairs to watch TV and eat any food you brought. The view is spectacular. The hotel is solidly built and the rooms were quiet.

They have a liquor cabinet! Okay, maybe I am little enthusiastic, but we spent a couple of hours in the rain on the ferry and being able to have a cognac at the end of the day without going out to a bar was a real treat. I really, really, liked the Heimly. I hope to travel to Flåm again in the spring and I will definitely stay at the Heimly if I can.
