“Two words: RUN. AWAY.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2009

I stayed at the Best Western meeting with a friend of mine awaiting a flight out to Paris the next morning. The hotel seemed like it would be nice until my friend went looking for the pool. Immediately, he discovered (and showed me!) the back end of the hotel; a crumbling, black mold covered addition that housed what looked like indigent Turks. Makeshift clotheslines hung from cracked balconies and you could tell that this part of the "hotel" had no electricity. Happened to go to the bus stop, and was astounded by how fast the local men surround you once your male friend turns away for a moment. All in all, super scary! When we ordered a cab to take us to the airport, he charged us 15 euro extra just to come to that neighborhood! If you like European ghetto, then this is the place for you. Kept feeling like I had walked into a cover operation for drugs or something! Will never go back there again!

“You can get breakfast at 4,00 am!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2009

if you just need to get a hotel close to Bologna airport, where you can have breakfast at 4,00 am, then you can go to this hotel.
Good rate and friendly staff.

“the worst experience ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2009

We chose this hotel to stay overnight before our flight from bologna airport. I think this is one of the worst hotels I ever stayed at. I stayed in best western hotels before and I had a good experiece, but this hotel is beyond the imagination.
- it is located 2 km away from the airport in the direct line, but 6km by road, which is the same distance as to the city airport.
- in is in the middle of nowhere and if you dont have a car you need to book a taxi at leadt 30 minutes in advance
- the hotel is a u shaped. one side is the hotel, second side is still under construction, third side looks like slums refure camp. It is dirtly, lots of trash, lots of clothes hanging on the balconies, etc. the better side veiw is on a chemical factory - "nicely illuminated" at night.
- windows are not sound proof, so at night you hear every plane, every car and even every motorbike driving by.
- the worst thing happened is that luckily when we were already up in the morning, suddenly a painting fell directly on the bed pillows. If we were still in bed, we could get seriously injured.
- pricewise?! for additional €20 we stayed in a very nice 4* hotel just by the city centre.
So if you consider this hotel, I suggest find a different one.

“I guess this is an example of "you gets what you pay for.."..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2008

OK.. Firstly.. Right from the off I have to say that, overall, I didn't like this hotel..

What the hotel is, is a concrete block of fairly basic, functional, serviceable rooms with the services/facilities to operate them..

The location is back of airport and there is plenty of industry in the immediate area, it's not a particularly inviting approach..

I found my room (and corridor) to be a little dated and a bit gloomy (I arrived in the dark, and left in the dark, and even with all the lights on it looked gloomy).. Furniture was a little old and mixed and the bed was a little lumpen.. I think the photos on the Best Western site make the rooms look more inviting than they are..

I also, like one of my fellow reviewers, found the hotel to be noisy..

I didn't use the (small) bar, nor the breakfast room (I left for an early flight)..

I did use the restaurant, but note two points..

- One.. service was pleasant enough but dreadfully slow.. nearly 2 hours for a starter and main.. not acceptable.. I think my order was misplaced as there was a lot of running about when I enquired where my food was..

- Two.. It is not owned by the hotel and you need to settle up separately (at least as far as I could ascertain)..

Staff seemed pleasant enough..

I paid 60 euros for the night.. and I feel that this was too much considering this rate is about average for an Ibis rate elsewhere in Europe..

There are alternatives.. Next time at Bologna airport, I will use one..
