“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2009

Many rooms from Villa Carlotta have nice views to Lago Maggiore. The rooms were a bit tired, but quite nice. Some people can call them "charming".

The service was very good and friendly through our stay (just one night in order to be close to Malpensa Airport).

The pool was nice but also that was a bit tired.

There were not many restaurants at the village, but we found La Terrazza very nice.

“Clean spacious hotel with great view and park”

The photos you find online don't show that it's on the road. It's ok though, except that if there is an even there is no parking space for the guests. Other than this, the rooms are comfortable and beautiful. We had a beautiful view on the Lake. The breakfast buffet was rich, and the most amazing thing is the park in the back with a panoramic pool. Amazing!
Also, we only paid 85 euros for a night in high season.

“Lovely place... great for family!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2009

We been here two times. First, in 2007, me and my wife were on the lake for an holiday, we went to Villa Carlotta just for a lunch and we had a great experience. In 2008 we decided to book this hotel for a week.. The hotel is direct on the lake and has a huge botanic garden in the back side. Thanks to wether we spend lovely time walking through the flowers and using the swimmingpool. Good reataurant too and charming service for all the week.

“Charming hotel, beautiful setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2008

We stayed two nights and, being November, we hadn't pre-booked. We just walked into what was obviously a very quiet hotel and were able to negotiate a significant discount on the room rates.

The room was clean, had just been recarpeted and had a lovely 6 foot bed. The view from the window was spectacular, looking across the lake to snow-capped mountains beyond.

Every member of staff was friendly and helpful but then there weren't many guests so they had time to give attention to everybody.

Belgirate was 'closed' and Stresa is about 3km away so we had little choice but to eat at the hotel restaurant. The food was of good quality though it did seem a little expensive - perhaps this was due to the poor £/Euro exchange rate.

We would certainly use the hotel again if we were ever in that area.

The hotel is a Best Western and the same family own the Best Western Milano just up the road. (Closed during our stay)

“Welcome break from the English weather”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2008

A collegue and I stayed at the Villa Carlotta Hotel for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, it was a fair journey into Milan and then onwards to Monza, but the surroundings made it worth the while. It was a well deserved break away from the English weather and we couldn't fault the helpfullness and friendliness of the staff. From the time we checked in to the day we left, nothing was of much trouble for them. The surrounding area is great, a short walk and your right on the waters edge of the Lake and there is plenty of seating area to relax and read a book and enjoy the sunshine. We had dinner 1 night of our stay at the hotel, which was quite daunting as neither one of us could read Italian, but the meal was great. There is plenty of different restaurants to choose from in the area, short distance from the hotel, all in walking distance, which serves great meals too. Overall, it was a enjoyable stay and I would definately return for another week end away.
