I first visited this hotel as a little boy in the 1980's. It seemed like a palace. Thirty years later it still does. From the light and airy reception and public spaces, to the first class bedrooms with air con and stunning views, everything abouth this hotel is top quality.

On a practical note the parking is excellent and the staff could not be more obliging. We arrived late and without a reservation and were given two magnificent rooms, great value at 125 Euro's, with lake views and a loggia style balcony.

The gardens and lakeside setting add to the magnificent ambience. Belgirate is a lot smaller than nearby Stresa or Baveno, but it is much more charming. To return to somewhere after so long and find the standards and welcome as warm is testament to the timeless quality of this hotel and attention to detail of the managment.

As a special treat James Bond officianado's will adore the nearby themed restaurant, Goldeneye.

we just stayed here for two nights on tour of the lakes and north west Italy and just loved it. There is a free car park and road parking, The hotel is just across the road from Lake Maggiore and our room overlooked the lake and had the enormous benefit of a small balcony. The room itself was light and roomy, but take a travel kettle if you like early morning tea. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is stunning and overlooks the lake, we had breakfast included and it is served by men in white dinner jackets! Limitless coffee, croissants etc. Up beyond the hotel there is a large park which is just beautiful and has an open air pool which also overlooks the lake. Weused a couple of the local restaurants, and the petrol station and found everyone to be extremely friendly. Belgirate is well worth a visit and we were sorry to leave.

Many rooms from Villa Carlotta have nice views to Lago Maggiore. The rooms were a bit tired, but quite nice. Some people can call them "charming".

The service was very good and friendly through our stay (just one night in order to be close to Malpensa Airport).

The pool was nice but also that was a bit tired.

There were not many restaurants at the village, but we found La Terrazza very nice.

The photos you find online don't show that it's on the road. It's ok though, except that if there is an even there is no parking space for the guests. Other than this, the rooms are comfortable and beautiful. We had a beautiful view on the Lake. The breakfast buffet was rich, and the most amazing thing is the park in the back with a panoramic pool. Amazing!
Also, we only paid 85 euros for a night in high season.
