Independent luxury boutique resorts around the world compete against branded ones on the basis of their charm, personality, attitude. I and my wife felt that we can get some good value for money at such Greek mountain resort rather than the usual suspects in Switzerland, France, Italy. We had visited the sister hotel in Mykonos and thought that we would be in good hands. Not so; the hotel's decoration aspires a Ralph Lauren type of cozy elegant interiors (rooms are large and the resort is serene), but is lacking any life (few guests around) a personality (where is the cosmopolitan and professional grand hotel attitude and feel?), the elegant touch and flair in food, beverages, (we dont expect top notch gourmet, but for this price and name-association the offering is short...) service, spa concept (dull!) and vibe-cool (do people outside Greece know about this place?) to match the majestic scenery. A Pitty! and to make things worse the resort has the same name with its sister hotel (santa marina arcahova) down the slopes in the centre of the village, which is a 3 star product trying hard to imitate its mother (this Resort) in certain areas.. Unlike the beach resort in Mykonos this resort lacks LTC (love, tender, care) and has no understanding of its clientele, present and aspiring one. A victim of the Greek crisis? then spare the agony and close it down....or make it work!
