Arachova is known as the "Mykonos of winter" to Athenians and as "that small picturesque village just before Delphi" to foreigners. Despite the great location, the big Parnassos ski center nearby and the proximity to one of the world's most important archeological sites, Arachova is just beginning to modernize its offer with new elegant hotels, good dining and interesting shopping, without spoiling its traditional charms.
Santa Marina Resort (not to be confused with the Santa Marina in the center of the village, operated by the same company), is a brand new hotel located at the main road leading to the ski center, a 5 min. drive from the village. It looks - and feels - typically "Alpine", so if you're looking for authenticity search elsewhere. However this is - by far - the best choice in Arachova and also one of the best choises of Greek winter resorts. Expect large, elegant rooms with huge bathrooms, good food, a decent spa, good service, spectacular views. Santa Marina Resort offers everything a well-pampered traveler needs, and although this is probably typical at most 4* hotels (with 5* prices in this case...), it remains rare to be able to find such standards at the Greek mountainous countryside.
Some minor glitches - cleaning almost, but not quite perfect (they had moped the bathroom floor but pieces of hair from previous guests were still to be found here & there), also the room service isn't available during the hours mentioned at the room guide (which can be frustrating if it is the middle of the day, however they will try to make up with a - not very exciting - club sandwich or toast).
Overall, a very good hotel, a very pleasant addition to the Arachova scene. If you want to stay in the area, and are willing to spend some serious money, then this is the place to be. Out-of-season visitors (spring to autumn) or those visiting midweekly get important rate discounts.
