Hey well i thought i'd leave a lil review on the lodge. The natural surf lodge is amazing, It has everything you need and could want in a lodge except the beach on the doorstep but this good because it gives a sense of peace in the forest/countryside setting, Also free use of mountain bikes to explore the vast forest area.
The room i was staying in was a dorm style room sharing with other guests, The bathroom and shower was immaculate and had real nice features and design, The room itself was pretty basic and really no different to hostel style rooms but instead replacing hostel bunk style for single beds of 4 per room(2 on each floor).
The lodge has a spa and skatepark , During my stay i didn't really have alot of time to plan out the day because of the surf schedule so i ended up not really spending alot of time in the actual lodge or the spa until we arrived back from surf later in the day at this point ready to eat and just relax in the communal main lounge. The main lounge is just equipped and designed to almost beach house style perfection with everything you could want and more and the big wooden dining table was perfect for big group social moments.
The surf was great but the lessons were a little unforgiving at times, I was not the strongest and by far the youngest in my group but i was still keeping up with everyone but at times using more energy to do so which made it feel a choir instead of fun at a progressive pace, It wasn't until i was left to myself on an open surf the following day i really started to get the hang of it and most importantly started having fun.
The owners are very friendly and willing to help whenever around.
HOWEVER, I do have a few things i weren't so happy about, First thing was the price, I felt the room price was wayyy over the top, The facilities made up for it but when i found out the surf lessons were an additional price ontop i felt a lil ripped paying 300euros for 3 nights and two 1 1/2 hour lessons and then i had to pay additional for afternoon meals aswell which didn't really have a choice since there was not a nearest shop or supermarket for miles and after surf everyone was hungry. Secondly, Some of the other guests seem to have this feeling that once you are in france you must speak french always but this naive attitude really was starting to bug me and it was evident with alot of french people (including staff) but i didn't pay 300euros to be pulled up and ridiculed on my lack of french language ability, It's like saying every country you visit you must speak there language which is a complete load but this arrogance does exist and you should be aware of it if you are not french, The only time the petty digs began to stop was when the guests were more evenly balanced with a mix of english speaking and french guests.
Apart from these things though which in a way you would come to associate with french lifestyle, Everything was quite smooth and relaxing and the area was beautiful, If you do not live within quick access to the area i would recommend staying a week for better value and just to unwind and settle with the surroundings and make the most of the whole experience.
