“Great for a romantic get-away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

I stayed at the manoir twice, the first time ca. 2 years ago and the last time in spring 2010.
It's somewhat hard to find, so make sure you have a navigation system. The first time I came, the Domaine de Lebioles wasn't even in the SatNav and we had to ask for the way repeatedly. Don't rely on signs, it's impossible to find without clear directions.
The area is beautiful, all forest around, great for walks, hikes, or jogging (easy to get lost though, happened to me). When driving up to the manoir it's a magnificent sight, elegant, royal, posh. I find the property itself absolutely impeccable, modernly art-deco-style renovated inside, topnotch technology (flatscreens, DVD players, designer-bathrooms). The new spa is great, they have a steamroom, a sauna and a pool, beautifully designed.

Service is not very good, apart from the warm welcome. The spa was unattended, and despite we asked for spa treatments at check-in (they said to check back in the morning cause the "lady" was gone), nobody was there the next day either. The owner was present, but did not care to interact with the guests. The restaurant is closed during the week.
We came somewhat late to breakfast and found the buffet to be a bit poor.

We stayed at the Suite Royale the first time and at a Suite Castellane the second time. While I found the Suite Royale very nice (not too big, but nevertheless), the Suite Castellane was definitely not a suite but the size of an average-size hotel room.
One note: the rooms that are said to have fireplaces: they cannot be used or lit. The Suite Royale had a few candles; if you want to create a magic moment, bring many tealights and put them in the fireplace and around, that'll almost make up for the lack of a proper fire.

All in all, a bit pricey, but a princess/royal/magic experience, just because of the beauty and the location of the property.

“Incredibly beautifull and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

We visited the Manoir de Lebioles for my mothers 70th anniversary and we were so enchanted with the beautifull and romantic castle and its grounds. It has been renovated with a lot of taste and capital. Not one detail was wrong.

The view on the woods from the terrace is unique for Belgium: woods as far as meats the eye.

Although this hotel is not made for families with children, they went out of their way to make it as pleasant for them as for us.

Moreover, the food of the restaurant was of very high level.

We also used the spa with the whole family and it was the most beautifull pool we have seen in a hotel.

“No worth the effort to find the place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2008

After a dreary drive through deep countryside, with little indication to be seen, we called the hotel for some guidance, but they were quite indifferent, and generally useless in their instructions.
When we finally found the place, the welcome was rather cold. We were shown to our room, on the top floor, which was dark, with small widows, rather airless and musty, and had an infuriating transparent glass wall and door between the bedroom and bathroom. Why would anyone find that a plus, is beyond my grasp.
The only room without that feature was prentiously called the royal suite, which really was just a big room. The room, as the rest of the castle was quite handsomely decorated, without really knowing if it wants to be hip/modern, or traditional, even rustic. So it's a bit of a mess in between. I personally, did not like it.
And it somehow does not function. For example, the modern curtains in the bedroom do not even do their basic task of blocking the light at dawn, the overly modern bathroom still smells of old pipes, the pillows were tiny and far too soft , a fire alarm unit on the ceiling just above the bed, flickered all night, terrible sound-proofing between rooms, etc etc...

Dinner was good, though nothing amazing. We were literally on our own in the restaurant, and chose a set menu. The quality of the food was good, on the whole, but I do not enjoy the highly dated 'nouvelle cuisine', with ludicrous side dish portions of mash potatos which would have fitted inside a tea-spoon, seriously! And far too many useless, inedible flowers in and around the plates, plus pointless nougat flavoured fois gras, with green apple jelly.
Again, all down to a certain pretentiousness about the place;
which is all very well if you didn't need to cart around your own luggage, as you check in and out, as there ever was only one person at a time to manage the whole place.
Also, as we started to enjoy an after dinner drink at the bar, at ten o' clock sharp, the soft lounge music was promplty turned off. We were told that this had to be so as to not disturb the other guests who were sleeping. Again, it was just ten o'clock, the music was very soft, and the hotel was virtually empty anyway. So we were left in the empty bar with just the wirr of some dish-washer.
Needless to say we just left the bar, feeling like children being sent to their room.
Such was the general atmosphere of the place
And the worst thing about it, is that this tiny stay, of just one night, dinner, and breakfast, set me back near enough 600 euros, plus I must mention that we were supposedly given a very good rate.
What a big waste of money this was; still, I guess the owners have to pay for the running of their empty looking business.

“hell on earth”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2008

I feel I have been to hell and back. I don't know just what sort of person room 10 the room my husband and I were given at this hotel was designed for. Here are some clues. It was painted red. The small double bed was accessible from one side only and lacked even one bedside table. It was boiling hot. The windows were only accessible by climbing onto a flimsy desk (and then only if you were 6 foot two). to be fair we did mange to draw the curtains using a coat hanger.
Had we been put into a single room? Well probably not since the open plan bathroom and lavatory was clearly designed for two, being twice as large as the bedroom area. It had a lavish double size shower and freestanding bath, loo, bidet and two rather attractive wash basins. At one point during my sleepless night I seriously considered going to sleep in the bath itself but was deterred by its height.
Other rooms in the hotel are much bigger and more luxurious. They are well worth a hundred euros more than room 10. However, is room 10 worth 199 euros for one sleepless night ? Definitely not!
