We spent two nights in a junior suite of the hotel, accompanied by our two children. From our point of view, the hotel met all the requirements of a 4-star hotel. The living room of the suite was quite large, with big windows and a little balcony. The bedroom was rather small. The suite had a nice modern bathroom and a separate toilet. Our suite was located in the old part of the hotel, but apart from some minor diy-issues it was very convenient. This part is overlooking the roundabout to Spa, so there is some noise from trucks driving past. Breakfast was ample. However, the passages around the breakfast counter are narrow, so at rush hour, getting something to eat was not easy. Although there were 3 to 4 members of staff present in the breakfast area, they did not manage to clear the tables/refill the stocks/clean up the floor in reasonable time. Check in was efficient but not very personal.
So far for the adults of our company. For our dear 2-year-old (d2yo), the hotel was far less welcoming. Although she loved the big sofa bed provided in the living room, she was saddened that she wasn't welcome in the hotel pool. Only after 18 or 19h, children are allowed in the pool area. This information is only found in very small letters on the hotel website. When d2yo caught her hand in the electric doors at the entrance, the staff behind the reception didn't blink an eyelid, nor ask afterwards how she was doing. Worse was the experience with room service. We ordered two easy meals right before bed time, but it took more than 1h30 to arrive. Only after calling the reception repeatedly, the food showed up. The reception staff promised to take the costs off our hotel bill but at check out (obviously) it did appear, accompanied by a bar charge which wasn't ours. Finally, d2yo did not appreciate the two big flies that hovered around the room upon our arrival. Our equally dear 3-month old had it hardest: her baby bed was installed without a mattress. Apparently she was supposed to sleep directly on the frame. Luckily housekeeping had left many many towels so we were able to create a softer layer. As this creates a potential security risk, I did warn reception staff of this.
Room Tip: The rooms in the old part at the front are very nice, but there is some noise from the street. There...
