“Great place, could use wi-fi in the rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Truly a fantastic place to stay. Amazing views over the valley from the rooftop terrace or the private balconies. Although wi-fi was free in the lobby it didn't reach the rooms. Not a big deal as we spent most of our time exploring the region. Arcos itself is a neat pueblo blanco and the people are very friendly. The reception staff was incredibly helpful and warm and the welcome glass of sherry was a nice touch. Try for one of the rooftop rooms or the two groundfloor rooms with private balconies if access to the outside is a must. The rooms were big, well decorated, and each was unique. I don't usually rate the showers in hotels, but these were fantastic.

Note: lots of stairs in the hotel.

Highly recommended and the 4 euro parking was close and easy and secure.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooftop room (there are two) or the rooms with private balcony (also 2)

“Heaven on Earth”

Our highlight in Spain! A warm and friendly welcome by excellent staff! Wonderful view, excellent service. Peaceful environment. Beautiful view from terrace on the roof of the building. The room we had was wonderful - two private terraces, lovely Spanish music on tape, exquisite homemade soap in the bathroom. Body wash and shampoo wonderful too. Breakfasts were delicious! Free internet and wifi a big plus indeed! The owner, Helena, must be complimented on the paradise she has created - a heaven on earth. Her choice of staff compliment her managerial style of detailed excellence and outstanding service. Congratulations! Your hotel has outstanding style, service and staff! You made our stay special! Lovely little town, Arcos - we were fortunate to be there during a harvest festival, which made it even more special - we could experience some of the culture of the little town.

Room Tip: The room with the 2 private terraces - a view to die for... heaven on earth indeed!

“Special place, worth to go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

It is a small hotel, 8 rooms, in a very chaming house. We stayed there on a family trip and got a very nice room at the roof top and a suite for the 3 kids. Rooms are extremely well decorated, full of details but simple and convenient. Bathrooms are unique and modetn at the same time. The athmosphere is special. There is a very nice library, internet w 2 computers, a marvelous terrace with the most amazing view. Breakfast is great, w freshly squeezed orange juice, warm bread, fruit, homemade jams, etc. A great and distictive experience.
Only difficulty is parking and carrying the luggage through the narrow streets

Room Tip: La suite is a very nice room and the 2 rooms at the top aswell

“Tasteful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

This place is all about the details: The rooms have a CD player with cassettes of curated Spanish music (1 for Flamenco, 1 for classical); the breakfast has a choice of 7 homemade jams; after sunset, they light the place up with candles; the color palette in our room was harmonious earth tones; the library has an eclectic selection of Spanish authors, and it covers 3 walls.
If these kind of details are important to you, then La Casa Grande is your place. Also, ignore what the other reviewers are saying about parking -- there is a lot within a 3 minute walk from the hotel, you just have to ask the owners for directions before you arrive.

“Loved this hotel - would stay again for sure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

What a view! Amazing view. Very good location (town is small, so easy to get anywhere). Great value when we stayed (vs staying in the parador). Rooms are pretty good - not plush or luxurious, but clean, spacey, and the view they command makes you forget about everything else. Breakfast was very good - one of the better hotel breakfasts we had in Spain. Would definitely recommend.
