“On the Top of the Town”

This parador is the former governor's palace, right at the top of Arcos, on the square across from the cathedral. This is one place where the "volunteer" assistance with parking is quite helpful. The views from the breakfast room and bar seating area are spectacular. Like all paradors, everything is lovely. If you are over 55, you can take advantage of the Golden Days rates. This probably explains why the crowd was all over 55! We arrived in Arcos during the busiest fiesta of the year (San Miguel) and luckily got the last room. We walked down the hill and joined in. If you do not have the mobility, there is always good public transportation in Spain. This is a 3 Star parador, so quite reasonable, especially with free parking, and excellent breakfast (included in the Golden Days rate, also reduced).

Room Tip: I think any room here would be lovely. We were in a single room the first night and moved to a doub...

“our favorite hotel of this trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

paid 110 euros. Beautiful classy old room. Bathroom featured a bidet, which we found entertaining. Great front desk service. Breakfast was more expensive than the usual Spanish but it was wonderful. The views from the hotel's balcony are great. Most of the rooms have private balconies too but I think ours was discounted because it didn't. Arcos is a great place for a nighttime stroll - somehow after dark it transforms into a dreamy old place, with endless little nooks and crannies, perfect for sauntering about.

“Excellent Parador with great views and service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

This is the same review as the one posted for Parador Arcos de la Frontera (ranked the #4 hotel in Arcos). This review is for the same hotel ranked #5. Trip Advisor note: travellers are reviewing the same hotel that has 2 entries!

We spent 2 days in the Parador de Arcos de la Frontera and loved every minute. The Parador is centrally located in the Plaza del Cabildo at the top of this picturesque Pueblo Blanco. Driving up to the Parador is an experience as the cobblestone streets get narrower as you climb.

The views from the outdoor terrace are spectacular! Restaurant and bar service is available there. Sitting in the terrace would be even better if the hotel would put some umbrellas to provide a smidgen of shade during the day. There is a second terrace off the second floor with lounge chairs. As with the first terrace, it could be improved with the simple addition of umbrellas. The hotel also has a lovely, plant-filled interior courtyard.

We had a double room with a view of the Plaza. Some reviewers note the tolling church bells but that didn’t bother us as we considered it part of the overall charm. The room was spacious, the beds firm and comfortable. The bathroom was large and spotlessly clean. Water pressure was excellent. Wi-fi was available in the room and throughout the hotel.

The staff was attentive to a fault. Parking for guests is available in the Plaza.

The Parador’s location is perfect for exploring the town’s winding streets and venturing further into the mountains and the other Pueblos Blancos by car.

Attention smokers – rooms are non-smoking but smoking is allowed in the outside areas.

“Stunning views.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

This is a wonderful Parador at the top of the town and is perched on top of the cliffs overlooking the Guadalete river.
The restaurant is also well worth a mention and has an excellent menu and wine list, though like many restaurants in Spain, the service is painfully slow!

Room Tip: Try to ensure you get a room facing west, as those have the best views.
