Front rooms can be noisy.... over a busy street but with a nice view. Not all rooms there have air con., even in those that do our party still reported issues with traffic noise.
Rooms at the back are over the kitchen freezers and they create a loud humm, day and night. These rooms are not air conditioned.
Some staff were very friendly, other incidents witnessed with other guests led me to question their professionalism. Some staff were terse and unfriendly.
There was something else that occured that I may not be able to mention here possibly for legal reasons (this is the second attempt to review this hotel) that caused me to leave my hotel early and leads to the title of this review and is why I rate it so low. If that is French culture, I don't want it.

The owners are very nice and helpful. The hotel is dated and could use a good update. The rooms in the front of the hotel have a really nice terrace, but the road noise to very loud. There are rooms above and someone was walking around a good part of the night. If you stay in one of the rooms in the front of the hotel, the rooms are right above the breakfast room, which you can hear everyone talking at 7:30 am.

Over all the hotel has a great location and I would stay there again, but not in a room in the front.

Travelled to Montrichard with WA Shearings. First impression of Hotel Bellevue is superb because of first class views over the River Cher and Ornamental Park beyond. We had a room at front of the hotel but the road outside did not cause us any problems. Amazing variety of places to visit within a short distance. We loved Leonardo de Vincci's Le Clos Luce and Amboise in general. We have previously visited Chateau Cheverney and loved it but we did not see it this time.
The hotel is clean and friendly, the bar has chairs and tables, but a lounge would have been nice. The a la carte restaurant was exceptional (tried one special night) but the group menu with 3 choices was more than adequate in an Anglosised French kind of way.
I agree with previous reviewer that the tour driver guide was a credit to his profession.

After our long but pleasant drive from Languedoc, by the time we reached Montrichard we were ready for a meal and somewhere to stay for the night.

Travelling over the bridge over the River Cher we saw the hotel, found a parking space easily and went in, we were fortunate enough, a room was available. The room was spacious as was the bathroom, all clean and comfortable. The room was to the rear was views over the interesting roof tops and medieval castle.

After freshening up we went down the restaurant and had a delicous meal and a couple of bottles of wine. The restaurant was popular with locals.

We had a walk around the ancient streets, very quiet, then sat outside of the hotel, the river being in front. Very pleasant.

Despite our poor O Level French and arriving on spec, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would stay again.
