“Excellent find and not to be overlooked”

Selected this hotel using last minute.com as quick midweek break for partner and I. In all honesty, was not expecting too much (invariably deals of this nature are too good to be true) but was really pleasantly surprised. Room was very clean and spacious, staff were friendly/helpful and utilities (although not used) were evidently of a good standard.

Only criticisms would be regarding the restaurant. Vegetarian choices were very limited and the waitress on duty could do with a little more customer service training. Despite this, when told of both those issues, the hotel tried best to acknowledge both concerns with genuine sincerity and did not seem offended by the comments.

We would definitely use this hotel again as local amenities are close and easy to find, but most of all because of the high standards presented during the entire stay.

“Great service and value”

We have often used this hotel in the past when it was known as the Ramada and were pleasantly surprised when we stayed there recently. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room service was very good and the buffet breakfast was first class. We will always stay there again when visiting Tunbridge Wells.

“Relaxing stay and great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

We stayed at the hotel as it is a good location for visiting our friends. Room was large and with comfortable beds, nice and quiet and blackout curtains so great night's sleep. Plenty of parking for guests. Breakfast was buffet style, and they cooked me a poached egg on request. The restaurant manager is a character - got all the guests to sing happy birthday to 2 guests and one of the waitresses at his encouragement. I managed to book a massage at the salon based in the hotel - tip do book this in advance to make sure you can get in - Thalgo products and very relaxing. Didn't have time to use the pool/sauna/steam rooms but they looked clean. The hotel has only just been taken on by Mercure so bear with them as some things are in transition such as the information pack in the room. All the staff we met were cheerful and helpful.

“Beautiful Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

Stayed at the Mercure Tunbridge Wells at the weekend 18th - 20th November - Hotel was clean, well organised, very helpful staff. Room was good - there was a birthday party in the dining area on the friday night but they put us at the other end of the hotel and could not hear a thing and a nice comfy large bed in the room. Spa and swimming pool were clean and no hassle - good way to wind down after a long drive to get there. Nice breakfast with lots of choice and attentive staff clearing tables and ensuring everything was in order! Got the bus into town from the new hospital near by very easy!

Would easily stay again without a thought!!!

“Bedrooms need a bit of updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

The foyer and public areas were very presentable but my bedroom which was on the first floor - down the corridor, up some stairs that looked like they had just been put together by the local carpenter and then turn right along another corridor - needed a bit of a facelift. The bed was comfy enough but the bathroom was very small and quite claustrophobic if you closed the door whilst having a shower. If you kept it open, all the mirrors in the bedroom misted up. There was no lift although I was offered assistance with my baggage. Breakfast acceptable. There is very little competition in the area but a little more effort is needed to bring it up to Mercure standards
