“dont miss it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

If you visit the beautiful north of Israel don’t miss the Pausa Inn in Galilee, it has lovely grounds in a spectacular setting. Pausa Inn is about 3 hours drive from Tel Aviv and about half an hour drive from Nazareth and Lake Kinnereth. The roads to it are very good and directions are clearly marked in 3 languages.
The room we had was on the small side, larger ones are available, but very comfortable and we appreciated the little extra touches, bathrobes, slippers and nice smelling cosmetics. Breakfast was ample and the idea to have all the guests sit around a huge table was great as it gave us the opportunity to chat to the other guests from overseas and Israel itself.
For a light lunch we were advised by one of the hosts, Einat, to go to a cafe called Kookie which is about 5 minutes away in the grounds of the long established Kibbutz Dafna. Kookie is delightful and nearby there is an outlet for the well known Israeli Naot shoes, (Naot is Hebrew for pleasant) which are very comfortable for walking.
There are lots of interesting places to visit in the area around the Pausa Inn and the other host Avigdor, as well as being a wonderful chef, is very knowledgeable about history and archaeology.
This time we were at a wedding, but, we will be back and next time we will try Avigdor’s slow food special. Both of the hosts Einat and Avigdor were laid-back and relaxed and made our stay unforgettable.

“Food great, atmosphere convivial"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2011

We had come from the bustle of Jerusalem and Pausa was, well, a nice pause from the bustle (on way to Haifa and Tel Aviv after our stay). The surroundings are spectacular, with the combination of the hills and mountains in the distance and Pausa's orchards and vineyards right outside the rooms.

The room itself was serene, modern, comfortable and well appointed. I would choose the hotel on this basis alone.

But you come for the food and the experience of the food. The owners share the "slow food" experience with you by eating with the group in attendance. The food itself is exciting, done to perfection, and delicious. This is true for both breakfast and dinner.

The whole experience is organic in the larger sense of that term, that is integrated release from urban bustle incorporating the hotel part, the food, and the surroundings.

“Fantastic meal, beautiful grounds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2011

We came here for two nights while exploring the North of Israel with my Israeli cousins (one of them posted the review below mine). We were drawn by the food more than anything else, and I chose this place solely based on TripAdvisor reviews, my Israeli cousins had never heard of it. The meal did not disappoint; I am still thinking about that kiwi jam/red wine sauce on one dish. Everything from the appetizers to the dessert was flawless, and multiple wines were poured throughout. The meal is communal, so if you are the only English speakers, that can sometimes be a bit challenging, as many Israelis often don't like to speak English, even though they can (but this is not the case with the hosts, who both speak excellent English, it's just that in a group dynamic where you are the minority, Hebrew will be the default). Nevertheless, I slept better at Pausa than I did anywhere else in Israel. The gardens are beautiful, the hot tub is lovely, and it makes a great location to explore the Upper Galilee and/or Golan Heights. Highly, highly recommended.

“Superb location and service, excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

Puasa Inn was everything that we expected for our getaway, and more. The location is perfect with great views of the mountains surrounding the area and only a short drive to the main attractions of the upper Galilee and the Golan heights. The garden is beautiful and the hot tub, with the superb 360-degrees views, is a real treat.

Our room was very small, but if you're not planning to spend much time in it - it is very practical. Service was well beyond our expectations - warm hospitality, good advice, flexibility with our special requests and a very welcoming attitude.

Breakfast was excellent but the highlight of the place (and the only justification for the very high room price) is dinner - a 5-course, 3-hour meal where everyone sits around the same table, the hosts involve everyone in the conversation, food keeps coming (though with long breaks to let you digest...) from the kitchen, and more and more wine (included in the price) is being served. The food was superb - great presentation and even better taste, all accompanied by stories, anecdotes and cooking advice from the owners who are also the chefs.

Note that on some nights dinners are not served (you get a refund and a reference to an excellent restaurant 5 minutes away), so call and check before you book. Also note that only adults and teenagers 16 and up are welcome here.

If it weren't for the very high room rate (which as mentioned - includes a meal that you'd easily pay 250-350 shekels for, per person, in any good restaurant in Israel), we would be happy to make Pausa Inn our 'home away from home' in our frequent travels in this area. Given the price - we will be happy to return, but only for special occasions.

“Best vacation. A must dinner feast.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2011

Just came back from another weekend at Pausa. We have been to Pausa for over 10 times and we would not select another hotel for our vacations. Pausa offers a great treat for the soul and even a greater treat for the body. Dinner feast is the main attraction, where all guests share a huge table with fabulous food. The owners, who are also the chefs, are conducting unique and interesting conversation over long-long dinner, according to the Slow-Food concept. For sure we'll be back. Soon.
