“Maharaja's hunting lodge with superb huge size rooms, Nestled between mountains and lake ( now dry ) , peaceful”
Stayed in room 203 on 28th Dec 11 for one night specifically to feel old world charm of Maharaja's hunting lodge . It was worth every rupee. ( Other 2 nights were spent in another hotel near Jaipur airport )
Rooms are super size , luxurious , clean and well appointed . My room was about 500 sq ft with balcony having nice views of mountains . Walkin wardrobe area nice. Bathroom was 200 sq ft with nice bath tub , separate shower area etc. Very clean . Room had LCD TV , mini bar , heater , 2 ACs etc. Decor was old world charm with huge ceilings .
There is a nice garden which overlooks a lake ( now dry as there is no water ) . Swimming pool is not heated and can't be used in winter as water is too cold.
If you want to escape from noise of Jaipur city , this lodge is a good luxurious place approx 70 mins drive ( 35 kms ) from city center . Airport is 90 mins drive and about 45 kms. Radio taxi charges mycabs should charge approx Rs 700 for one way drop incl. special charges Rs 250 for ramgarh drop from city center . Airport will be Rs 800 from here all inclusive by radio taxi. Give upper limit of fare to taxi fellow else you may be taken via a much much longer route taking much more time even as it's a radio taxi. Hotel charges double this amount so better go for radio taxi.
Buffet Dinner - Variety was limited but food quality was very good. 3 Veg Main courses , Dal , Desserts etc.
Breakfast - It was lovely . Set by the pool side . Fresh fruits , fresh Juices , Choice of Parathas , Toasts , Baked beans , Oats etc . I don't eat non veg food but there was lots of non veg options.
You can hear birds during morning hours and evening hours in the garden. I saw few birds species which are unique to this area.
During night time , the sky is so clear that you can view hundreds of stars . Its super peaceful.
The lobby area is very nice with heritage charm. . There are lots of stuffed animals around - Tiger , lion etc . There are few international magazines like Time etc for the guests to read.
Hotel's General Manager and his wife are awesome people and have very helpful nature.
Special tip - This is a forest lodge and last half hour of car journey towards hotel is through a small highway which does not have much traffic during night hours. Hence , it's advisable to reach this hotel during day light hours ( 7 am to 6 pm ) for safety reasons. This should not scare you off. It's a suggestion especially if only a couple is planning to arrive here by a taxi.
