Not at all what we expected! Staff were polite and the house wa beautiful. However the actual accommodation was not what we expected. We were expecting a high standard of luxury accommodation but in reality it was like an 'upmarket' butlins! Our room was dusty and it was clear it had not been cleaned properly, there was also a musky smell. The pool area was small and cramped and after dropping my white towel on the floor to pick it up and find it was now covered in brown marks clearly this was not clean either. Very disappointing!!

I stayed here for a night in December 2011 whilst attending a wedding. The room was very tired but fairly comfortable. The grounds and old building are lovely but generally really needs some investment and TLC. De Vere really could do with spending a few quid on the place

A Christmas present from our daughter and son-in-law, see us staying two nights at the DeVere Venue hotel at New Place, Shirrell Heath, Southampton, Hampshire, SO32 2JH. A good blend of traditional charm and modern comfort set in 32 acres of parkland.
We stayed in the mews located a short walk from the manor house, with access to a great range of relaxation and sporting facilities, including an indoor pool, mini-gym, croquet, boules and cricket pitch. We have stayed at a few DeVere Venue locations and this one stands out for the size of the rooms, the others tended to be on the small side, this is the second time we have stayed here.
New Place is also in an ideal position for local attractions and places of interest: there’s Portsmouth's historic Dockyard, Chichester Cathedral, New Forest and the beautiful Test Valley.
If you wish not to drive or have that extra drink spend your evening with a drink in the bar and a meal in the stylish restaurant.
With its ideal location and easy access from the M3 and M27, New Place is the perfect place for a weekend away. If you book with one of the cheap room deals this location takes a lot of beating for quality and value.

We stayed here the night before viewing the property as a potential venue for a wedding.
The car park needs better signage. You need to have an umberella in case it rains. The journey from the car to reception, to your room, and to the main building, is all open to the elements. The rooms are more than adequate, but lack TLC. Great value for money. The greeting was not great, no help with bags , just pointed to our room in one of the blocks behind reception(umberalla). Definate issues with noise. Food good, service was keen if not professional. Bar good enough, if you can get a seat. Beautiful gardens. Main House magnificent. Arden Suite well proportioned but needs refurbishment. First impression, Stale smell, out dated lighting, poor flooring, could do with a spring clean.
