I stayed at Colona Castle in May 2011 with my son. We wanted a break, visit some friends and do some sightseeing. It was the perfect spot for us. Not far from Cape Town, near Cape Point and on the way to the wine area. The road along the coast from Muizenberg to Stellenbosch is just beautiful !
There are a number of golf courses nearby and for those of you who are a member of Virgin Active in the UK, a letter from your club will get you in to enjoy all the facilities.
The service was extremely good, nothing was too much trouble. The staff know the area very well and were able to advise us on our touring. Itineraries were drawn up for us every day to ensure we saw everything and did not miss out, restaurants were also booked for us...
The rooms are very comfortable, everything you require is there and the service is discreet and extremely good.

Words cannot say enough about this hotel. The interior is stunningly filled with Asian antiques, the views are breathtaking as it overlooks a large lake and also False Bay, the music softly playing sets the mood for total relaxation and decadence. The quality and attention to detail in the rooms is remarkable; the breakfasts, the gracious hospitality and assistance with touring around the area is beyond anything we've ever experienced anywhere in all our travels around the world. We cannot say enough about the staff, Nicolette and Hope especially. Gracious, gracious, gracious doesn't begin to describe the staff we met at this hotel. The four course dinner we had in-house one evening was one of the best in all of Cape Town with fresh fish bought that day. This place made our stay in Cape Town forever memorable.

Needed somewhere to chill for a few days ... wonderful, warm welcoming small hotel. Highly recommend the personalised tours that can be arranged, far superior to any taken through the large hotels in the centre of Cape Town.

Quiet and relaxing, but if you want to wander, you will need a car to get into Kalk Bay or Cape Town beaches or centre.

Best pot of tea in Cape Town. Stunningly furnished, everything has a story. Best bed linen in my stay in the country. Bran muffins with breakfast are superb!

Get up early for the dawn from the pool terrace ... then have an earky breakfast or go back to bed!

Recommended by Susie Freeman Travel (the BEST for RSA and Mauritius!) and a very good recommendadtion too. Colona Castle is very stylish, has great facilities and really friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in the Chinese Suite which was very comfortable indeed - large room and bed, ensuite and private terrace. We had dinner on one night which was delicious. Breakfast was very comprehensive with delicious fruit. Owners Michael and Nicole were very involved and welcoming/helpful. Would recommend that you have a hire car if you are using this hotel as a base for Cape Town as Muizenberg is a 20 minute drive from the center of town. Upside of this though is the view and the peace.
