“Just bliss!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We have been coming to FSV for many years, about 20, normally in Oct but occasionally at Easter. We have only once had poor weather. It is really well run, the stafff are very friendly and helpful and the setting is just superb; it is as nice as it looks on the photos. One thing we have noticed is the staff are pretty much the same people year after year, which in my book is a good thing and shows they are happy.

Apartments. 2 bed apts are a good size. The double has an en suite including a jacuzzzi bath/shower and the twin has sole use of the other bathroom with very smart walk in shower room. Big lounge and well equipped kitchen: microwave, cooker, two fridges (one for booze of course), dishwasher, coffee machine etc. also has washing machine, tumble dryer, iron etc in cupboard. Balcony with table and chairs ideal for breakfast on the patio!

Pools. Upper pool is quieter and lower pool has beach like slope into the pool. I have never found either pool warm, even in the height of summer. In my case a VERY deep breath but once you are in it IS refreshing. Lots of people use them, so it might just be me, but they all go "aaaaaah!" when they get in. Lots of sun beds available. Drinks and ice creams available by poolside. Indoor pool much warmer and indoor whirlpool very warm.

Clubhouse. Nicely decorated and nice leather tall backed seats round tables. Happy hour each night with local cocktail of the day. Also very tasty plater of nibbles (free) per night. Squash courts, gym, table tennis, sauna avail.

Eating. Resort restaurant OK but if you want to try local food there are some restaurants in next door Old Village; they get better the further away from the resort. There are shed loads in Vilamoura (15 min walk or short taxi). Even round the Marina they are reasonably priced. Best two? Columbuss on the far side is the horseshoe (opposite Dom Marina GolF hotel) or La Cabana in Quartera (they provide a free pick up and drop off from FSV - just ask the desk to book them). Also there is a good, reasonably priced mini market in the Old Village -ideal for warm rolls for breakfast.

Golf. FSV is right beside Pinhal (back gate is beside 9th green). Sadly Pinhal is the least good course and even with the FSV discount it is not cheap golf - €75-100 per round but most other courses are impressive. FSV has its own Dir of Golf -good man with a good teaching reputation.

Worst aspects. The beds ARE firm and the waistline takes a hammering!

Overall always a very relaxing resort -we always look forward to going. I would, without doubt recommend it to anyone!!

This place is fabulous. Our apt. was just right all the ammenities you need for a stay a week or more. The beds were a little hard, but all of europe is like that. The staff very accommadating. The restaurant very relaxing and the waitstaff there was excellent. Food was good and reasonably priced. We did not do the buffets , ordered a la carte . Pool was very clean as were the grounds.

“Great resort in a Central location !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

The resort met our family's every expectation in terms of quality and professionalism. Our room was spotless upon occupation and we immediately felt comfortable with the surroundings. One of the refrigerators was faulty and we reported it in the morning - it was attended to in less than 30 minutes and replaced an hour later. The unit is well equipped and one can easily cater to your desire.

The air conditioning worked well, but as other reviews have mentioned, beware of the electricity bill. We limited this to the periods that we were in the unit. Units are also equipped with washing machines and tumble driers, but again, use these sparingly.

We never ate at the resort since we wanted to discover the towns and traditional Portuguese cuisine. There are some brilliant restaurants in Quarteira (Os Agostinhos & Rei do Peixe Assado). For a unique experience delve into the old town of Quarteira - there you get great gastronomy at non-tourist prices.

The bar area is well laid out and background entertainment was available in the evenings - the selection was perfect. There is free Wi-Fi connectivity in the lounge to catch up on the odd emails and do some research for your travels.

The swimming pools are first class and well maintained. We never used the indoor pool or gym, but these looked in great condition. Take note that there is a fee if you request towels for the swimming pool.

Access for private vehicles is restricted to residents so cars are safely parked in the basement or on street level for the Ground Floor units.

The staff was helpful and assisted with every request. The ladies were less enthusiastic especially when we enquired about local restaurants.

Thank you for a brilliant stay, I will recommend this resort without hesitation and plan to return soon.

Room Tip: Not too close to the restaurant area, upstairs.

“Lovely location, friendly staff but standard of apartments and food needs to improve.”

Stayed at Four Seasons in August for two weeks in a studio and feel that the apartments are looking tired and very dated and would benefit from refurbishment. Staff at reception are generally very helpful particularly Alexandra and Bridget. The restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
Unfortunately the food is no longer of a high standard as in previous years particularly the complimentary breakfasts which arrive burnt to a crisp and inedible. Unless standards improve the general consensus is that many owners will be handing back their weeks. The gardens are beautiful and well cared for as are the pools. May well consider staying in Old Village when I return this Autumn as it is far cheaper. Unfortunately unless things improve it would be hard to recommend anyone else to stay at the moment.
