“Bargain holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2007

We booked this holiday because it was very cheap and it rated no1 in Vilamoura on trip advisor.
I knew what to expect before i got there so it wasnt a shock however if I had booked this through an agent and paid more money for it it would have been a disapointment.
The complex is very basic, the villas are old and the decor inside relects that however there are very clean and well looked after.
This is an ideal place to stay if you are looking for somewhere to lay your head at the end of the day but not for someone who wants somewhere which has everthing in one place as this has nothing except a pool.
As advised by other traverlers we had a hire car for the entire holiday and this was invaluable, the marina and beach is within 5-10 mins in a car but too far to walk daily and we saw other people at the complex that were very bored as all they could do all day was sit at the pool or organise a taxi.
There are guard dogs in the nearby villas that do bark all night which would disturb some of the residents however our villa (no 13) was far enough away for it not to be a problem. One thing I didnt like is there is no lighting so when we got back after dark you had to feel your way around the complex to get home and you could not walk on the path as it was unstable.
One villa was burgeled while we were there however the resident left one of their shutters open when they went out so it was easy for the window to be forced open.
In general this complex would not make for a family holiday however is ideal for a bargain holiday for people that need a base to stay and for golfing parties as all the main curses are nearby.

“Great holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2007

We returned today from a weeks holiday in Prado Villas. I would describe this holiday as short but sweet.
The pool was great as it had sun beds, parasols and a shower. Most days there was only us and a few other people. The only downside for me was that it wasn't heated. I think that most people would prefer it like that, but it wasn't for me!
AND it took us 2 hours to find! It only should have taken 1/2 an hour. When you enter Villamoura look for Prado golf, i think its on your left! We asked the lady at reception and she gave us directions. If your really stuck then ask for the Hilton Hotel as it is near that.
We were disappointed as it did not have a bar where you could buy ice-creams or drinks from.
Taxis are cheap to go in and out of town from, but I would recommend hiring a car.
The harbour is beautiful, It is heaving with shops and Restraunts, something to suit everyone!

All in all I think that it was a FAB holiday which was highly recommended.

“Taste the Villa lifestyle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2007

We hired a car and drove from Faro Airport which is 25 minutes away down the N125. Our villa was ready at 11am so we were lucky and got to check in early.

The complex has 18 or so individual villas. Our Villa was number 7, Villa violetta which has it's sun terrace / patio directly opposite the pool.

The centre point and main feature of Prado Villas is the pool area. Surrounded by a wide and paved sun terrace, with both flat and sit up style moulded sun loungers.

A medium sized non heated pool is perfect for taking the edge off that very hot Portugeuse sun. We went in every day either at the beginning or end of the day. The kids loved the pool!

There is great news here, there is no 7am scramble to get towels out! Everyone uses the pool and the beds sensibly so there was no need.

There is a maid service twice a week and you can hire a safe deposit box from reception which is open every day until 6pm.

The Bar / bistro was not open for the two weeks we were there. This did not really cause a problem as each villa has a fridge to keep your drinks and ice creams to sustain pool activity when you are there.

We ate in at our villa a couple of times in the evening, there are good facilities in the villa for preparing and serving your own meals.

The centre of Vilamoura is just a 5 minute drive away (a good 25 minute walk). There are numerous restaurants of all denominations but be warned, you will have to hunt around for bargains as most of them are expensive when compared with Spain or Cyprus for example.

Prado Villas is nice and peaceful, we would go back and would recommend it to anyone with pre teenage kids.

“Perfect base!”

Returned from a wk in Villamoura. We had a fantastic holiday! Stayed at the Prado Villas which was a perfect base. Yes the villas were dated but extremely clean, although our bed linen wasn't changed. Would recommend hiring a car as we drove to the Marina most nights and did not pay a penny for parking! We also drove to Vale Do Lobo and Quinta de Lago which were very easy to find from Villamoura. The grounds and pool at Prado Villas are immaculate and perfect to relax in if you don't fancy the beach! It would have been perfect had the bar have been open, and there were not really any great restaurants nearby, you have to go down to the Marina for those! The Hilton has just opened, dinner was delicious! Fairly difficult to find as signs to Prado Villas in Villamoura are fairly limited! Perfect for those who are not bothered about the dated look of the bathrooms or the fact that the TV only has four channels!!

  • Liked — Gardens and pool were superb
  • Disliked — Pool bar would have been nice!

“excellent value for money.”

Just arrived back from a relaxing break at the Prado Villas. The accomodation was a spacious 2 bed villa that was very clean and well equipped, although a little dated. The surrounding gardens and the pool area was lovely. The location of the villas is a tranquil getaway that backs onto a golf course and woodland.
I would recommend a car if staying at these villas as the centre of Vilamoura is about a 40 min walk. The marina at Vilamoura is lovely with some good restaurants that are not too pricey. The only negative part about the holiday is that we found the Villas a little difficult to find as they are not clearly sign posted. Otherwise we had a great holiday, that was excellent value for money. We will be returning soon.
