Arrived in portugal travel to the apartment dropped off meet by the caretaker sorry you are the only people staying no pool no bar and no shops would you like to move to the harbour area apartment nearer to shops cafes and bars. What a start would you please sign this disclaimer no compensation. But as it turn out it wasn`t a bad holiday warned it was quite at this time of year. But was happy to find most bars cafes and restaurants were open even on christmas day. Staff were fine apartment basic and very cold at night. But just to let you know we had a great time so don`t be put off by first appearances. Good supermarkets close by prices just about the same home not cheap but it can be if you check out bars and restaurants. So i would recommend area.

PS the local buses even ran on Christmas day

“Good value for the money”

We stayed at this hotel until 15th MAY 2011 And found the the staff very good. Reading some reviews i was very apprehensive. We arrived at approx 3am and found the guy in reception waiting to help us, A+ We needed two rooms for our group but were seperated and the next morning we asked at reception if we could be closer together. Straight away we were given rooms next door to each other. Again A+.Rooms were clean and good maid service. Only negative was a bit of a distance from the centre of town, which didnt worry us as we had hire cars but might worry other people. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

“Not 5 star but very acceptable - enjoyed.”

We arrived expecting the worst and were pleasantly surprised. Okay the furniture is a bit dated and the equipment is a bit hit and miss, but if you ask at reception they will arrange to put in your room anything thats missing. The travel cot for our grandaughter was like brand new and they arranged two fans for us to keep the room extra cool.
We used the sofas as single beds as we were in a studio although you could have changed one of them into a double bed if wanted, they were comfortable enough and far from the worst we have ever slept on.
A full size cooker was a lovely surprise and meant that if you wanted to cook a proper meal you could.
Pool again is a little tired but perfectly adequate as are the loungers and mats, we spent a few days just lazing around the pool and the beer at the hotel is reasonable although the pop is expensive at 2 euros per can.
Marina food was lovely and reasonable if you shop around but there is another shopping centre closer (go to the bottom of the hill and turn right instead of left) and the Cactus Bar in there does 1 euro per pint and the little restaurant next door to it was much cheaper than the marina and lovely food, probably better if you are on a budget. Part-time reception was a bit of a pain beware of this.
Over all we enjoyed this holiday very much and are planning to return with out children next year.
If its a cheap get away in the sun you want go for it, if its 5 star luxury you want book the Tivoli on the Marina x

Room Tip: ask for a pool view bigger rooms on this side and they get the sun all day

Agree with most of the reviews as in you get what you pay for. Okay the furniture was slightly dated but hey wasn't going on holiday for that! Apartment well equipped and no complaints. Pool cleaned every day - very cold but good on a hot day. If you have a room overlooking the pool then yes you will be disturbed by drinkers late in the evening. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. On-site restaurant - very friendly owners and their steak cooked on the stone highly recommended. Walk into Vilamoura - nice, flat, around 15-20 mins stroll - and the reviewer who said they couldn't find any authentic portugese restaurants obvisoulsy didn't look hard enough - away from the main marina (which is however fantastic for people watching) is a square with as many restaurants of all shapes, sizes and food that you could wish for and A Broa was one of our favourites. Would defintely recommend.

As said in other reviews this is a cheap hotel, you get what you pay for. I based the very good mark on other places i have stays in the same price range. I wanted a cheap holiday for me and my partner, we had a great week. The room was just what we needed, yes its old and tired. It is clean however and had everything we needed to sleep and cook some nice meals and dine on the balcony. The rooms are cleaned and bedding is changed mon to friday but not weekends. We did not use the pool area as there are fantastic beaches in the area and one of the best attractions in the algarve. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant on the first day it was edible but a bit greasy. There are good supermarkets not to far from the hotel. There are some fantastic restaurants in vilamoura offering fresh local fish. The staff are friendly and helpful. check-in closes most days at 6.30 so if you are arriving late as we did at 11.30pm it is best to phone them the day before and tell them and they will arrange for someone to be there to check you in.
I would not stay here in the height of summer as there is no air conditioning, I would pay a bit more to stay somewhere else. It was ok the first week of october, nights were warm but not uncomfortable and the days were very hot still.
A taxi to the marina or beach cost around 4 euros and when called always came to the hotel in less than five mins.
My only real complaint is nothing to do with the hotel. A few of the English guests that were staying there were pretty foul to say the least, the drunken noise at night was annoying especially at 4am. i like a drink and a good time but have respect for other people. they clearly did not. basically there were to many chavs there! We did our best to avoid them and would definitely stay here again. Dont be put of by this it was only a minority, overall we were very pleased with the hotel and it was better than we expected.
