Resort spotless, lovely grounds.
Studio spotless and everything we needed.
Large balcony.
Food reasonably priced but nothing special. Dining room like a canteen.
Entertainment - karaoke was fun to watch but singer / guitarist was in his 70s, couldn't sing and was watching the TV screen more than playing / singing (thankfully because he was awful) - no other entertainment all week! Bar boring and shoddy seating....so low it must be made for children.
Shuttle bus to main resort 3 times a day, 09:30, 11:00 & 16:00 - not often enough and not big enough to accommodate everyone so he had to leave some people and come back later for them.
Tourist train passes resort so can hop on that for reasonable fee but it's a slow way to head for the beach and does not come anything like the times it is supposed to!
Oasis Village is a long way from the Marina & beaches. Someone told us it was a 20 minute walk to the marina so we walked back from it one day and it took 40 minutes or more. We were not walking slowly.
One man on reception told us lies! We asked about a bus going to Olhos d'Agua and he said there was no bus direct, we would have to change several times and there was nothing to see at Olhos d'Agua. Liar! The bus goes direct (5 minute walk from apartments to bus stop) and Olhos d'Agua is beautiful. Paradise even! Lots to see and do & loads cheaper than Vilamoura. Rock formations & caves on the beach there. Clifftop walks and trails. Lovely little beach. Many tavernas. Cheap cafes. Gift shops.
Vilamoura itslef - marina can be expensive and any gifts are much dearer here than say in Quarteira next door. Do not eat or drink at the beaches unless you are loaded as they have rip-off prices!
Sun loungers were empty on beaches - people tending to have own beach mats & parasols. Beaches beautiful though. Breathtaking.
Do not book trips via hotel as they add on a booking fee to the price. Find your own tour operator. if you go to Olhos d'Agua you will find a ticket office & the trips are way way cheaper booked there. They can still pick you up at Oasis Village.
The Oasis Village is really too far out of the main resort and there are virtually no other places to eat or drink nearby. We found a little haven about 10 minutes walk away with a couple of bars & a couple of great restaurants. We spent evenings there.
Another restaurant with a pool, which is near the shop, just a couple of minuts walk from Oasis Village, was more like a cafe in appearance and yet charged us 14 euros for a small jug of sangria!!!
Taxis - beware of the overcharge. Terry saw the meter reading but one chap added another 2 euros on that for himself!
Can recommend visiting Cerro da Vila (archaeological site and museum in Vilamoura, lots to see).
Walk through from marina Beach to Quarteira. Lots cheaper to eat here. Lovely beaches.
